About the role

We are looking for a skilled, trade-qualified Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our engineering and maintenance team at MCC Auckland. This is a hands-on role in a busy manufacturing environment, focused on maintaining and improving the reliability of our printing presses, production machinery and associated equipment.

You will work across electrical, electronic, control and electro-mechanical systems, helping minimise downtime and keep our operation running safely and efficiently. You will join an experienced team of tradespeople where practical problem-solving, teamwork and continuous improvement are valued. Candidates with a dual electrical/mechanical background or Millwright qualification are particularly encouraged to apply.

Working hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Working hours are scheduled between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm. Occasional call-outs may be required.

Your duties

  • Diagnose and repair electrical, electronic and electro-mechanical faults on printing presses and production equipment.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs and equipment reliability improvements.
  • Troubleshoot PLCs, variable-speed drives (VSDs), servo systems, motors, sensors, machine controls and safety circuits.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings and equipment manuals
  • Install, commission, modify and upgrade machinery, electrical systems and control equipment
  • Work closely with production operators and the wider maintenance team to resolve issues quickly
  • Identify recurring faults, investigate root causes and recommend practical improvements
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, parts usage and time reporting
  • Monitor critical electrical and electronic spare parts and arrange replenishment
  • Follow all health, safety and isolation procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)

About You

  • NZ EWRB Registered Electrician with current practising licence (essential)
  • Trade-qualified Electrician or Millwright (dual-trade highly valued)
  • Proven experience in electrical maintenance, fault-finding and repair in an industrial environment
  • Strong diagnostic skills with industrial machinery and electrical control systems
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings, schematics and technical documentation
  • Practical, hands-on approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong commitment to health and safety and quality workmanship

Experience that will set you apart

  • Industrial electrical maintenance experience in manufacturing, FMCG, packaging or printing.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC fault-finding, automation, servo drives, VSDs, motors, sensors and machine safety systems.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance programmes and root-cause problem-solving.
  • Familiarity with computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Experience installing, modifying or commissioning industrial machinery and control systems.

You don’t need to be an expert in every system. We value strong electrical fundamentals, practical fault-finding ability, a willingness to learn, and the initiative to get to the root of a problem.

The Benefits

  • Competitive pay and benefits package
  • Free onsite parking
  • Health & wellness initiatives and Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
  • Career development opportunities locally and across the global MCC network
  • Employee referral rewards
