Job Description

Plan and perform a variety of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and carpentry duties in the installation, repair and maintenance of the Center’s facilities and equipment, under the general supervision of the Maintenance Manager

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

 Understands and complies with all rules and regulations.

 Understands thoroughly all procedures and regulations for Fire Safety, Bomb Threat and Disaster Programs.

 Understands thoroughly the basic operation of the equipment within the facility.

 Conducts Preventative Maintenance Procedures on facility equipment.

 Undertakes minor repairs of plumbing and electrical nature on mechanical equipment.

 Understand when it is a better decision to seek advice from the Vice President of Facilities Management where advanced mechanical knowledge is required.

 Assists the Vice president of Facilities Management or his assistant in making major repairs.

 Records all pertinent information relating to Planned or Repair maintenance on the proper log forms.

 Adheres to proper safety procedures while operating, repairing, testing or utilizing any piece of equipment within the facility.

 Participates in continuing education classes relative to Engineering Maintenance.  Attends and participates in all in-service training programs organized and conducted by the Vice-President of Facilities Management.

 Communicates in an effective manner with all facility personnel, visitors or residents.

 Maintains an available schedule on off-duty hours for EMERGENCY calls to the facility.

 Maintains a clean, sanitary workstation that is in compliance with departmental guidelines.

 Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize assigned tasks as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
