Job Description

We are seeking a dependable, motivated, and detail-oriented Preventive Maintenance Technician to help maintain our retail locations in excellent working condition.

The primary focus of this position is to perform scheduled preventive maintenance, conduct routine facility inspections, complete basic repairs, and identify potential maintenance concerns before they develop into larger problems.

The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in maintaining clean, safe, and well-functioning facilities, and is eager to develop their maintenance skills.

This is an entry-level position with opportunities to learn and grow. Extensive maintenance experience is not required; however, a willingness to learn, strong work ethic, and attention to detail are essential.

Key Responsibilities

Preventive Maintenance

  • Perform regularly scheduled preventive maintenance inspections at assigned retail locations.
  • Follow established maintenance checklists to ensure facilities, equipment, and building systems are functioning properly.
  • Inspect HVAC systems, replace air filters, and perform basic cleaning and maintenance within the scope of training.
  • Inspect plumbing fixtures, faucets, toilets, drains, and other components for leaks or potential problems.
  • Inspect doors, locks, hinges, door closers, and other hardware for proper operation.
  • Check interior and exterior lighting and replace bulbs or perform minor repairs as appropriate.
  • Inspect floors, ceilings, walls, shelving, and other facility components for damage or deterioration.
  • Identify potential safety hazards, maintenance concerns, and opportunities for improvement.

General Maintenance and Repairs

  • Perform basic repairs involving plumbing, carpentry, painting, hardware, and general building maintenance.
  • Complete minor repairs and adjustments during scheduled store visits.
  • Assist with the installation or replacement of basic fixtures, shelving, signage, and other store equipment.
  • Address routine maintenance requests as assigned.
  • Recognize when a repair requires specialized expertise and communicate those needs to the appropriate supervisor.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who takes pride in doing things right, notices the small details that others may overlook, and understands the value of preventing problems rather than simply reacting to them.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated, organized, comfortable working with their hands, and eager to develop the skills needed to become a well-rounded maintenance professional.

Requirements

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and an interest in learning maintenance and repair skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage assigned responsibilities.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Dependable attendance and a strong sense of personal responsibility.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record, as travel between retail locations is required.

Preferred but Not Required

  • Previous experience in building maintenance, property maintenance, construction, or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, or carpentry.
  • Experience completing facility inspections or maintenance checklists.
  • Familiarity with work-order or maintenance tracking systems.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and climb ladders as required.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with assistance when appropriate.
  • Ability to perform maintenance work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to climb ladders and complete work on a roof.
