Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining convenience store/gasoline dispensing properties, headquarters facility, and other designated properties. They will be responsible for maintenance, monitoring, repair and upgrade of environmental and regulatory compliance-related equipment at retail properties. Works with Retail Maintenance Operations to schedule and perform maintenance, repair, testing and monitoring activities required for regulatory compliance. Provide information on physical status of properties, make verbal recommendations and executes other assigned duties as needed. Maintenance Technician will assist in the repairs of fuel, car wash, building, plumbing, HVAC refrigeration, and any electrical where applicable.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Repair, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of all types of gasoline dispensing equipment, various recovery systems, and related equipment. The functions include a working knowledge of automated and control systems (i.e., point of sale consoles, card readers, tank auto-gauging systems, and Cathodic protection system).
  • Assist in conducting Physical Inventory process for the Company retail sites and perform Fixed Asset verification and update for all company fixed assets to ensure accurate property records by using the equipment transfer form to enable accurate and current P&L tracking.
  • Transport and transfer equipment to and from company and other stores as needed.
  • Respond to emergencies in a timely fashion. This will include calls outside normal working hours.
  • Perform general repair and maintenance of facilities at retail locations. This would include but not be limited to work on lighting systems, air/water dispensers, signs, minor building repair, painting, and plumbing.
  • Calibrate and test all meters.
  • Perform site review and inspections. If possible, repair and/or correct items while on site. If items lie outside capabilities and/or require materials not on site, follow the proper procedure for placing item(s) on the Company repair list.
  • Work with contractors as required, and as directed by supervisor, to accomplish tasks at Company facilities.
  • Coordinate activities with facility operators to ensure all parties are informed of what is happening, when, and why.
  • Coordinate activities to minimize facility disruptions.
  • Work with multiple departments and personnel within the Company including Retail Operations team, Engineering representative, and ESD personnel.
  • have a thorough understanding of dispenser mechanical and electronic troubleshooting processes and techniques.
  • Maintain continual awareness of the Hazardous work environment for personal safety and the security of our customers. Perform all tasks in a safe and environmentally responsible manner and in compliance with local and/or state rules, and regulations.
  • Perform General repair, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of gasoline/diesel dispensing equipment, POS, vapor recovery systems, electronic tank monitoring and related equipment.
  • Maintain Physical Truck Inventory and accountability at all times.
  • Maintain current equipment Manufacturer Certifications, ICC State certification, OSHA and API Safety Training.
  • Respond to routine service calls and emergencies timely. This includes calls outside normal working hours.
  • Service requests must be resolved on first site visit quickly, efficiently and cost effectively on a consistent basis.
  • Provide timely, legible work orders after each service call is completed and accurately document labor, travel and material utilized.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, site personnel and management.
  • Maintain company furnished vehicle and specialty tools. Employee is responsible for keeping service vehicle clean and coordinating vehicle service on a regular basis.
  • Perform other projects and related duties as assigned.
  • This is a field based position with daily travel.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3 + years prior fuel system maintenance experience
  • Demonstrated capabilities in maintenance and repair of retail petroleum facilities
  • Ability to provide proof of a valid Drivers’ license and current insurance is required
  • Strong Communication and handwriting skills are required
  • Strong organizational and people skills is required
  • Candidates must be safety conscious
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision is required
  • Efficient and effective time management
  • Willing and able to submit and pass DOT drug screening and background checks per DOT
  • Demonstrated success working in a fast-paced environment.
  • API Safety Training is required
  • Hazwoper 40 Hr. Safety Training is preferred
  • Manufacture Certifications (Veeder Root Tank Monitor, Gilbarco Dispenser, Gilbarco Passport, Wayne, Healy Vapor, Franklin, Red Jacket, OPW, Emco Wheaton, VST are preferred

Department of Weights and Measures Meter calibration is preferred
