Are you a hands-on problem solver who takes pride in maintaining safe, attractive communities? Oakbrook Corporation is seeking a Part-Time Maintenance Technician (20 hours per week) to support Countryside Village, serving our communities in Mt. Morris and Oregon, Illinois.

WHAT IT'S LIKE TO BE A MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

As a Part-Time Maintenance Technician, you'll play a key role in maintaining the overall appearance, safety, and functionality of our communities. You'll work independently to complete work orders, perform preventative maintenance, and ensure residents receive outstanding service. No two days are exactly alike, making this a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety and problem-solving.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage repair and replacement of HVAC systems, plumbing systems, electrical components, and appliances
  • Complete resident work orders in a timely and professional manner
  • Perform unit turnovers, including repairs, painting, cleaning coordination, and preparation for new residents
  • Conduct routine and preventative maintenance throughout the property
  • Assist with grounds maintenance, trash removal, and upkeep of common areas
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual property inspections as assigned
  • Coordinate and monitor vendor and contractor work as needed
  • Identify and report safety concerns, property damage, and emergency maintenance issues immediately
  • Support maintenance needs at both Countryside Village locations in Mt. Morris and Oregon
  • Participate in an on-call rotation as assigned
  • Demonstrate and uphold Oakbrook's core values in all interactions
  • Perform other duties as assigned

ARE YOU THE MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN WE'RE LOOKING FOR?

The ideal candidate is reliable, resourceful, and committed to providing exceptional customer service. You enjoy troubleshooting maintenance challenges, working independently, and taking ownership of your work while ensuring residents feel supported and valued.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Previous residential, multifamily, or general maintenance experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent customer service and communication abilities
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Basic computer or mobile device skills for work order management

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Trade school certification or maintenance-related training preferred
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to travel between Mt. Morris and Oregon locations
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds and perform physical maintenance activities
  • Must provide personal hand tools required for the position
