The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance, repairs, and custodial tasks to ensure the YMCA facility is clean, safe, and well-maintained. This position supports the Head of Maintenance by assisting with preventive maintenance schedules, responding to work orders, and helping maintain an inviting environment for members, staff, and visitors.

General Work Schedule:
40 hours per week, between the hours of 7:00 am and 4:00 pm.

Essential Functions:
• Facility Maintenance & Repairs
◦ Perform general maintenance tasks including minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting work.
◦ Assist in routine servicing of HVAC systems, pool equipment, and other building systems under supervision.
◦ Respond promptly to maintenance requests and work orders to minimize disruption to programs and services.
◦ Maintain the swimming pool. Ensure cleanliness, appropriate chemical quality and temperature.
◦ Conduct daily walkthroughs of the facility and grounds to identify maintenance or safety issues.
• Custodial Support
◦ Assist with cleaning tasks when necessary, including mopping, trash removal, and restocking supplies.
◦ Set up and tear down equipment, furniture, and rooms for programs, meetings, and events as needed.
• Preventive Maintenance
◦ Help implement preventive maintenance schedules to prolong the life of equipment and reduce downtime.
◦ Maintain accurate records of work completed and report any major repair needs to the Head of Maintenance.
• Safety & Compliance
◦ Follow all YMCA safety standards and OSHA regulations, including proper handling and storage of cleaning chemicals.
◦ Report safety hazards, broken equipment, and other facility issues promptly.
◦ Support emergency procedures, including responding to facility-related emergencies as directed.
• Collaboration & Communication
◦ Work closely with the Head of Maintenance and other staff to coordinate maintenance activities.
◦ Provide excellent customer service when interacting with members and staff.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–3 years of experience in building maintenance, custodial work, or related field preferred.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems.
• Ability to safely use hand and power tools and operate cleaning equipment.
• Pool Operator certification and respirator fit test within 6 months of employment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
