The Maintenance Technician fulfills the mission of the parish by assisting in maintaining and upkeep of the parish buildings and grounds, and ensuring a welcoming and safe environment for parishioners, staff and visitors. This role will provide general maintenance and basic repairs for all parish buildings and property. Also, this role often involves both routine maintenance and special tasks related to parish events, services, and activities.
Position Responsibilities:
Maintenance
· *Inspects buildings and other structures to detect malfunction and needed repair.
· *Perform maintenance in areas such as HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, painting, electrical, and others.
· *Complete work orders and process them.
· *Responds to after-hours emergency calls as needed.
· *Use of tools ranging from common hand and power tools such as hammers, hoist, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
· *Work cooperatively with staff to schedule and complete repairs.
· *Maintains record of scheduled maintenance procedures; inspections, tests, repairs and/or updates
· *Maintains files of all municipal and state safety/ security guidelines
· *Maintains ADA equipment (AED equipment, first aid kits etc.) ensuring equipment is up to code and in proper working order
· *Performing regular inspection and operational performance of all fire and security alarms and equipment (fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems, etc.), scheduling and overseeing repairs and updates as needed.
· Assist and attends to authorized General Contractors
· *Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
· *Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
· *Perform spot checks on equipment to ensure proper working conditions.
· *Complete special projects as directed by management.
· *Assisting with Janitorial duties
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Set Up and Breakdown for Services and Events
· *Set up rooms for meetings, events, and religious services (e.g., arranging chairs, tables, setting up audiovisual equipment).
· *Break down and clean up after events, ensuring that spaces are restored to their original condition.
· *Moves and assists in transporting furniture and delivery of items to and from various facilities/sites.
· *Move furniture and office equipment as requested.
General Facility Upkeep
· *Perform basic repairs, such as fixing minor plumbing or electrical issues (or coordinate with outside contractors for more complex repairs and/or repairs that required a permit or licensed professional)
· *Ensure that heating, cooling, lighting, and other systems are functioning properly.
· *Maintain parish grounds, including sweeping sidewalks, tending gardens, and landscaping as needed.
Safety and Security
· *Maintains security of campus buildings including checking, opening, closing and locking doors and windows, activating and deactivating building alarm and responding to alarm calls after and during regular work hours.
· *Adhering to safety training and protocols on a daily basis, and taking precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of self, others.
· *Monitor buildings’ security, locking doors and windows after hours to ensure the safety of the premises.
· *Ensure that all fire exits, and emergency equipment are functional and accessible. Ensure that all fire extinguishers are in working condition and available at each building.
· *Maintain an organized storage areas for cleaning supplies and equipment, keeping hazardous materials safely stored.
Assist with Special Parish Activities
· *Provide support for special liturgical events, including but not limited to Christmas, Easter, weddings, funerals, by ensuring the building is ready for these services.
· *Assist in decorating for major church holidays and events (e.g., Advent, Lent, parish events).
Coordination with Parish Staff
· *Work closely with the parish office and other staff to ensure that the church and ground are well-maintained and ready for services, or parish events and activities.
· *Communicate any needs or concerns about maintenance and repairs to Pastor and/or Business Manager.
Inventory and Supplies
· Maintains an inventory of facility maintenance items, material, parts, supplies, tools and equipment and order supplies as necessary.
· Ensure that necessary tools and equipment for maintenance tasks are in good working condition.
· *May need to pick-up and/or deliver supplies.
