We are seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our community committed to delivering outstanding service. As a Maintenance Technician, you will play an important role in all phases service that meets or exceeds Buckner quality, service, and hospitality standards. What you'll do:

  • Receive and follow maintenance schedule/instructions from supervisor in accordance with established maintenance policies and procedures; perform unscheduled maintenance tasks as directed.
  • Complete assigned work orders promptly and accurately.
  • Coordinate work with contractors to insure efficient and timely completion.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repair on the facility, grounds, and equipment in a safe and serviceable manner including taking preventive measures; perform routine maintenance and repair including plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, etc. as directed.
  • Maintain roadways, parking areas, driveways, etc. by cutting, trimming, policing, sweeping, etc. as directed.
  • Clean windows and screens as directed.
  • Replace burned out light bulbs including all exit lights, overhead lights, fluorescent lights, room call lights, etc.
  • Perform cleaning duties in very high places using appropriate equipment and following all safety policies and procedures.
  • Service heating and cooling units/systems as specified by the manufacturer and in compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Maintain general plan and facility in good repair, ensuring a safe, clean and orderly environment.

What you’ll bring

  • Requires proficient ability to read, write, and follow instructions. High School Diploma (or G.E.D.) required; some vocational school courses such as general mechanical, safety requirements, and making minor repairs preferred. Minimum 1 year prior related experience preferred.
  • Requires working knowledge in the use and repair of general maintenance supplies.
  • Requires proficient ability to speak, read and write English; ability to read, write and understand business documents which are written in English.
  • Requires ability to effectively communicate verbally with residents, families, visitors and co-workers. Requires ability to make self clearly understood by others.
  • Requires ability to understand and follow basic written and oral step-by-step instructions.
  • Requires ability to move maintenance equipment as needed, using up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force continuously to move objects and/or people.
  • Work deals mostly with objects, equipment and/or machines where the seeing job is at or within arm’s reach. Depth perception and field of vision (peripheral) are of some importance.
  • Requires ability to turn, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, handle, stand, and walk over 75% of shift.
  • Requires ability to safely utilize maintenance equipment and recognize differences in sound generated by equipment or machinery which may indicate operation problems or safety concerns.
  • Requires ability to work under close supervision performing routine, standardized tasks.
