Maintenance Technician, St. Clair (Cleveland), OH

Arclin is seeking talent for a Maintenance Technician at our Cleveland (St. Clair), OH location. Reporting into the Maintenance Manager, this role is responsible for supporting plant operations by maintaining and repairing machinery, equipment, and infrastructure used in rubber processing and production. This role plays a key part in ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance of extruders, mixers, presses, and other rubber manufacturing equipment. The ideal candidate brings strong troubleshooting skills, mechanical and electrical knowledge, and a proactive attitude toward preventive maintenance and safety.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive maintenance on rubber manufacturing equipment, including extruders, mills, mixers, calenders, and curing presses.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues in production equipment.
  • Respond promptly to breakdowns and maintenance requests to minimize production delays.
  • Assist with equipment changeovers, installations, and upgrades.
  • Monitor and maintain utilities supporting rubber processes (air, water, steam, etc.).
  • Maintain detailed maintenance logs and records using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Follow plant safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and lockout/tagout (LOTO).
  • Support root cause analysis for recurring maintenance issues.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas, tools, and parts inventory.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to ensure smooth operations and compliance with process specifications.
  • Adhere to quality and safety standards specific to the rubber manufacturing environment (e.g., temperature and pressure control, cleanliness, material handling).

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical school certification or associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical, or Mechanical Technology preferred.
  • 2–5 years of maintenance experience in a rubber or similar manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with rubber processing equipment (extruders, batch mixers, Banbury mixers, etc.) strongly preferred.
  • Solid mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, VFDs, sensors, and control systems is a plus.
  • Skilled in the use of hand and power tools, welding, and fabrication is a bonus.
  • Basic computer skills and experience with CMMS software preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or in a team setting.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in hot, noisy, and occasionally confined environments.
