Schedule: 8:30am-5:00pm Monday – Friday, after hours, weekends and evenings as needed.
Reports To: Construction Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
The Maintenance Technician for the Pastoral Ministry Center is responsible for providing general maintenance and basic repairs in a professional manner that assures safety, efficiency, and adherence to procedures. Working conditions are primarily inside, but occasionally it will be outdoors, and in rural settings with frequent exposure to temperature extremes, dust, dirt, grease, and noise.
Requirements
Position Responsibilities:
- *Inspect all buildings and facilities, identify deficiencies and initiate repairs.
- *Complete repairs or general maintenance at assigned sites, including minor carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, finishes, and masonry.
- *Assist other Maintenance Technicians as needed
- *Move furniture, boxes, equipment, or other heavy materials.
- *Transport various items to and from offsite locations.
- *Travel off campus to properties within the Archdiocese of San Antonio for maintenance related needs.
- *Complete all assigned work orders independently in a timely, efficient, and satisfactory manner.
- *Ensure mechanical equipment is maintained according to manufacturers’ recommendation, industry standards or government regulations; oversee various contractors who work on mechanical equipment.
- *Perform a variety of tasks in the maintenance and alterations of landscape, including mowing, weeding, trimming, spreading mulch, and trash pickup.
- *Ensure the proper function of the irrigation system and ensure compliance with government regulations.
- *Setup and breakdown tables, chairs, and equipment in conference rooms and atrium according to user needs.
- *Respond to after-hours emergencies.
- *Provide superior customer service to all stakeholders including bishops, employees, team members, and the public.
- * Maintain an inventory to ensure the proper function of the building.
- *Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
- *Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
- Schedule, assist, and monitor independent contractors, and provide building access to contractors during after-hours maintenance or repair activities.
- Maintain security of the campus buildings including ensuring the proper function of doors, checking door and window status, and responding to after-hours alarm calls. Follow established procedures for locking, checking, and safeguarding facilities.
- Adheres to safety training and protocols on a daily basis, taking precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of self, others
- Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to client names and information, services rendered to clients, donors names and gifts, internal and external investigations or results of any investigations, and financial information.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Experience
- Minimum of four (4) years experience in building maintenance or construction related work.
License and Credentials
- Reliable transportation
- Valid driver license
- Valid Vehicle Insurance
- May require OSHA and/or First Aid certification within one year.
Minimum Knowledge and Skills:
- Must have knowledge of basic plumbing, HVAC, masonry, painting, and electrical work.
- Must have working knowledge of general maintenance tools.
- Must have knowledge of safe work practices, procedures and techniques (i.e. OSHA standards)
- Must have knowledge of basic electrical wiring and repairs (i.e. light switches, bulbs, and ballasts)
- Must have knowledge of proper paint and varnish application techniques and procedures
- Must have knowledge of knowledge of mechanical preventive maintenance.
- Must have knowledge of basic carpet, tile and drywall installation and repair.
- Experience with computer software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must have good time-management skills, the ability to prioritize effectively, and to multitask.
- Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team.
- Must have good written and verbal skills.
- Must have good critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Travel Requirements: Travel requirements for the position includes 40% within Archdiocese of San Antonio geographical zone and 0% overnight.
