Job Description

Job Location: OYHFS Youth Learning Center (Highland Park) - Los Angeles, CA 90042
Position Type: Full Time
Salary Range: $24.00 - $24.00 Hourly

Position Summary:
Primarily responsible for basic maintenance and service repairs on OYHFS buildings, grounds and equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Performs preventive maintenance and repair on basic household equipment and appliances.
- Maintains and services all mechanical systems such as stoves, refrigerators, garbage disposals, dishwashers, washers, dryers and exhaust fans.
- Performs routine plumbing, electrical and simple carpentry repairs as assigned by department managers.
- Performs basic vehicle checks and services as assigned by department managers.
- Drives vehicles and operates equipment necessary to perform maintenance tasks.
- Assists with complex and skilled maintenance tasks under the supervision of craftsman level senior staff.
- Attends and participates in mandatory training and in-service activities.
- Performs other duties and participates in special projects as requested by department manager.
- Interfaces with staff and clients in a service-oriented, positive and productive manner during performance of duties.
- Participates in QI activities and promotes such.
- Supports and promotes a trauma-informed culture throughout the organization.
- Works to promote and support diversity, inclusion, and equity at all levels in the organization.
- Participates in select QI Committees and ensures COA and other regulatory compliance.

who are served by our Agencies. Therefore, each employee must at all times be
emotionally stable and able to function effectively with children, adolescents, and adults
who may have mental or behavioral challenges. The staff must be able to demonstrate
appropriate daily behavior, appropriate expression of emotions, as well as appropriate
role modeling. Hostility, aggression and unnecessary or inappropriate physical actions
as well as inappropriate emotional expressions are not acceptable.
- All agency employees must maintain confidentiality of client and case information and
may not access information unless directly related to their job responsibilities and
duties, as stated in Title XXII 88069.7 (d): “All information in case records shall be
confidential and shall be available only to the licensing agency, placement agency staff
and personnel who need access for the performance of their duties.”

Required Education, Training, Experience and Certifications
- Must have High School diploma.
- Demonstrated experience as an all-around maintenance repairperson.
- Combination of experience and formal trade education desirable.
- Ability to work independently, organize workload and work cooperatively with others.
- Knowledge of problem determination procedures and skills needed to perform job duties.
- Valid California driver’s license; current automobile insurance; have and maintain a clean driving record acceptable to the organization’s insurance company
- Must be able to be pass a fingerprint background investigation.
- Must be able to pass a TB test, Physical Exam, and Drug Screening.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential competencies and job duties of this position. - Stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, utilize fingers, hands and arms all day.
- Lift items up to 50 pounds 1/3 of the day.
- Stand on ladders and other uneven surfaces.
- Clear close and distance vision and be able to adjust the focus.
- Ability to operate a vehicle and recognize all street signs.
- Speak and listen to others in person and over the phone and video conferencing.
- Use keyboard and read from computer screen.
Environmental Conditions:
Ability to adjust to climate, outdoor and indoor conditions such as extreme heat, humidity and cold weather.

Every employee must comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations and orders pursuant to Division 5 of the California Labor Code which are applicable to his or her own actions and conduct.
