Job Shift: 3RD SHIFT-8P-6AThe Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring production equipment, machinery, and facility systems are operating safely, properly, and efficiently. This position performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and equipment rebuilds to minimize downtime and support production needs. The Maintenance Technician may also be required to perform general interior and exterior building maintenance as needed.

Essential Functions

  • Perform all maintenance activities in a safe manner and in accordance with Eillien’s Candies safety policies and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair production machinery and equipment that is not functioning properly.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on production equipment and machinery throughout the facility.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and production needs.
  • Assist with rebuilding, repairing, adjusting, and modifying equipment as needed.
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and work performed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Assist with general building maintenance, both interior and exterior, including light plumbing, light electrical, painting, patchwork, groundskeeping, and other facility-related tasks.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all applicable food safety, employee safety, OSHA, and company policies and procedures.
  • Communicate equipment issues, maintenance concerns, and repair needs to appropriate personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QualificationsCompetencies

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and diagnose various equipment and machinery in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple maintenance requests based on urgency and business needs.
  • Ability to quickly shift priorities and respond to changing job demands.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Must be familiar with computers and possess basic data entry skills.
  • Must apply food safety and employee safety practices to all work performed.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees and other departments.
  • Must be dependable, organized, and detail oriented.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibility.

Work Environment

This position is primarily performed in a manufacturing and production environment. The employee will frequently be exposed to loud noises, machinery, powered equipment, varying temperatures, and other conditions commonly associated with a manufacturing facility. The employee may occasionally be required to work in areas that require additional safety precautions and coordination with other departments.

Physical Demands

Must be able to stand, bend, twist, and lift up to 50 lbs. or more with assist if needed on a regular basis. Will be required to follow all Food Safety and OSHA requirements with anything requiring physicality. Must be able to crawl in smaller spaces, or lower levels. Must be able to sit at a computer desk and complete paperwork which requires the ability to type and use a cell phone, or land phone

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Full time hour schedule is subject to change with or without notice. Mandatory or voluntary overtime may be required to meet business needs.

Education, Skills and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; relevant maintenance experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Prefer a minimum of two years of recent maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment; food manufacturing experience is a plus.
  • Technical training or education in maintenance, mechanical systems, electrical systems, industrial maintenance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Relevant certifications in maintenance, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, welding, or other related fields are preferred.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing production machinery and equipment is strongly preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other building maintenance systems is preferred.
  • Must be able to read and understand equipment manuals, technical documents, and safety procedures.
  • Must have basic computer skills and the ability to accurately complete maintenance records and documentation.
  • Must possess strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose equipment issues and determine appropriate solutions.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and other departments regarding maintenance needs and equipment concerns.
