As the Maintenance Technician – 3rd Shift, You Will...

Be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing manufacturing equipment and facility systems to support safe and efficient plant operations. This role plays a key part in preventive maintenance, continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring equipment reliability throughout the facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain plant machinery and equipment, including conveyors, compressors, motors, and pumps.
  • Complete corrective maintenance work orders and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Set up and operate welders, drill presses, grinders, hand tools, and other metalworking equipment.
  • Operate mobile equipment, including forklifts, scissor lifts, and articulating boom lifts.
  • Support and participate in plant safety, health, and environmental programs.
  • Maintain professional and courteous conduct while carrying a company phone during work hours.
  • Maintain and promote 5S workplace organization standards throughout the facility.
  • Support the Rittal Production System through preventive maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in identifying equipment issues and recommending corrective actions to improve reliability and uptime.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required.

Experience

  • Minimum one (1) year of experience working with hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems preferred.
  • Experience operating maintenance and fabrication equipment preferred.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair industrial machinery and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, manuals, and other technical documents.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to write detailed repair reports and communicate maintenance activities effectively.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to learn and utilize maintenance management software for data entry, work orders, and parts research.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to established procedures.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, twist, reach, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift.
  • Occasionally lift up to 80 pounds to waist level.
  • Frequently lift 25 to 50 pounds to waist level and up to 25 pounds above shoulder level.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at elevations up to 90 feet.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Work Environment

  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, machinery, dust, and elevated noise levels.
  • May be required to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Regular exposure to cleaning solvents, oils, lubricants, and other industrial substances.
  • Must be available to work assigned shifts and support operational needs as required.

  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including:
    • Safety-toed footwear
    • Safety glasses with side shields
    • Hearing protection
    • Additional PPE as required by task or location
  • Follow all Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and facility safety guidelines.
