The NHMLAC is seeking a Maintenance Technician for our Operations department. The Maintenance Technician position is responsible for performing a wide variety of building maintenance and repair work involving carpentry, electrical, masonry, painting, plumbing or other mechanical and maintenance skills.

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Painting: Performs painting as needed including painting shelves, cabinets, furniture, motors, and other mechanical equipment and touch-up painting on the interior and exterior surfaces.
  • Responds to diagnoses, and resolves plumbing emergencies.
  • Plumbing: Install, repair, and maintain pipes, valves, fittings, drainage systems, and fixtures in commercial structures.
  • Electrical Installation and Maintenance: Performs skilled work in the installation, maintenance, alteration and repair of wiring, electrical appliances, and handling of heavy equipment. Lays out, assembles, installs, tests and maintains electrical devices and apparatus such as conduit, wiring outlets, and tests circuits for continuity and proper connections. Replaces broken or defective light switches, sockets, outlets, bulbs, fixtures, fluorescent tube, lamp holders, starters, and ballasts. Installs air conditioning window units as needed.
  • Equipment and Tools Maintenance and Repair: Maintains and repairs various types of equipment and tools including maintaining, adjusting and as necessary, replacing drive belts, motors, pumps, and compressors.
  • Building Inspection: Inspects buildings and facilities to ensure safety and to identify needs for repair.

This position has the following requirements:

  • Communication: Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through verbally and in writing. Ability to communicate ideas verbally and in writing.
  • Heavy Equipment: Must be able to operate heavy equipment including golf cart, scissor lifts, aerial work platforms and forklifts.
  • Shop Tools: Must have experience with shop tools, stationary shop equipment and hand tools.
  • A valid California Driver License and a Personal Automobile Liability Insurance or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation needed to carry out job related essential functions.
  • Two years’ experience in general building maintenance and repair involving a variety of minor carpentry, electrical, masonry, painting and plumbing work
  • At least one year general experience performing repairs and general maintenance.
