Fresh Baguette is a fast-growing, artisanal bakery known for its high-quality standards and modern atmosphere. The company was founded in Bethesda, MD in 2013, to bring fresh, made-from-scratch organic breads, pastries, sweets, and croissant items inspired by bakeries in France to the DMV area. We have expanded to eight retail locations, two production bakeries, and a thriving wholesale business. We serve coffee shops, restaurants, hotels, and grocery stores with fresh products every day, 365 days a year.

Maintenance Technician

Germantown, MD (Travel across DC, MD, VA)

Full-time | First Shift (Mon-Fri, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM) Second Shift (Mon-Fri, 2:30 PM-11:00 PM)

$28 - $34 per hour + shift differential (based on experience)

About the Role

We are seeking a Maintenance Technician with a strong focus on preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and equipment repair.

This role supports our retail locations and production facilities, with primary responsibility being preventative maintenance and repairs. The ideal candidate is a proactive troubleshooter who can also support broader facility and equipment maintenance and repairs as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Preventative Maintenance (Primary Focus)

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on espresso machines, ovens, freezers, refrigeration units, ice makers, etc.
  • Maintain and improve preventative maintenance programs
  • Document work orders, inspections, and parts usage in CMMS

Retail Equipment Repair (Primary Focus)

  • Diagnose and repair equipment to minimize downtime
  • Support multiple retail locations with service and maintenance needs
  • Ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently

General Maintenance

  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems
  • Perform repairs on equipment
  • Assist with equipment installations and upgrades as needed
  • Respond to urgent maintenance issues

Additional Duties

  • Travel between locations (DC, MD, VA) using company vehicle
  • Maintain tools, parts inventory, and workspace organization
  • Collaborate with operations and management teams
  • Follow OSHA, lockout/tagout, and safety standards
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor while working in retail locations, interacting respectfully with customers and representing the company positively at all times.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 2+ years of maintenance experience: manufacturing, food production, or similar
  • Strong preventative maintenance and troubleshooting experience
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel

Skills:

  • Mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic troubleshooting
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and on a team
  • Physically able to lift 50-75 lbs and stand for extended periods
  • Strong English communication skills for documentation and collaboration

Preferred

  • HVAC experience
  • Experience with espresso machines or coffee equipment
  • Food production or bakery experience
  • OSHA 10 certification
  • CMMS experience
  • CMRP or other maintenance certifications

Schedule

Training: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM

Regular schedule:

  • 1st Shift - Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM. Must be flexible as needed
  • 2nd Shift - Monday-Friday, 2:30 PM-11:00 PM. Must be flexible as needed

*This position will begin on 1st shift during the training period, following a Monday–Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The technician will remain on 1st shift until training is complete and they are comfortable working independently. At that point, there may be an opportunity to transition to 2nd shift (2:30 PM–11:00 PM), depending on business needs and demand. Both shifts may offer some flexibility as required. This role also includes on-call responsibilities and may require weekend work as needed.

Work Location

  • Based in Germantown, MD with regular travel to retail and production locations throughout the DMV area using company vehicle.
