The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine and preventive mechanical maintenance on piping systems, pumps, rotating equipment, and other warehouse infrastructure within the distribution facility. This role supports safe, reliable, and efficient operations by troubleshooting mechanical issues, completing repairs, and executing small‑scale fabrication or project work as needed. The technician works closely with warehouse operations to minimize downtime and ensure equipment remains in good working condition.

Key Responsibilities (includes but not limited to):

  • Uphold the fundamentals of the Nicholson Nine and Responsible Care Guiding Principles, ensuring Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security responsibilities are met.
  • Maintain strict compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality policies, and support incident investigations and audits as required.
  • Lead and support all planned and unplanned equipment and facility maintenance activities.
  • Partner with warehouse operations, transportation, and other departments to clearly define impacts of planned and unplanned maintenance to minimize supply disruptions.
  • Ensure accurate completion of all maintenance records, including daily, weekly, and annual inspections.
  • Support spare part and equipment procurement for maintenance and project activities.
  • Facilitate contractor activities as applicable.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and audit‑ready maintenance areas, utilizing 5S principles where applicable.
  • Participate in emergency drills and support spill‑response activities as required.

Required Qualifications / Experience:

  • 5–10 years of hands‑on mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or distribution environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience working on pumps, piping systems, valves, rotating equipment, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Understanding of warehouse safety practices, including lockout/tagout and hazard awareness.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, piping diagrams, and equipment manuals.
  • Ability to safely troubleshoot and repair mechanical failures with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and mechanical repair equipment.
  • Strong problem‑solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift, climb, work at heights, and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite and e‑Maintenance programs.

Preferred Qualifications / Experience:

  • Associate degree or equivalent certification.
  • Ability to fabricate and weld metal alloys.
  • Understanding of building codes, regulations, and required permits.
  • Training to safely operate powered industrial trucks and lifts, along with experience troubleshooting and repairing forklifts.
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting and repair abilities.
  • Experience with Dept. of Transportation IBC certification testing and record keeping.
  • Basic understanding of low‑pressure boilers, air compressors, and DI water system operations and repair.
  • Ability to understand blueprints, specifications, and P&IDs.
  • Experience with pneumatic controls, hydraulics, pump troubleshooting, and laser alignment techniques.

Salary: Dependent on experience; $34.00 - $36.00 per hour
