Job Location: Children Square Campus - Council Bluffs, IA 51503
Salary Range: $22.00 - $25.00 Hourly
Maintains facilities, grounds, equipment and vehicles for the organization in compliance with federal and state laws and licensing and accreditation standards. Additionally, position includes risk management and safety.
Essential Job Duties:
• Conduct routine maintenance, repairs and improvements in facilities and new construction as needed. Prioritize work based on safety, health, licensing, accreditation and budget factors and meet deadlines as much as possible based on the due date of pending work orders. Actively perform or oversee vendors performing maintenance functions including plumbing, carpentry and electrical, heating and cooling systems.
• Oversee the agency’s fleet of vehicles including safety checks and scheduling of maintenance.
• Oversee and performs grounds maintenance as needed. Prioritize work based on safety, health, licensing, and accreditation and budget factors.
• In conjunction with the Executive Administrative Assistant/Facilities Supervisor, perform safety functions as required and meet the deadlines specified on pending work orders.
• Work with volunteers on maintenance or grounds projects as assigned.
• Notifies supervisor or management of need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating and ventilation equipment.
• Assists with major projects, such as moving, as assigned.
• Organizes and maintains the Engineer’s Room on a routine basis.
Other Duties:
• Complete other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
• Complete training necessary to perform position and necessary for professional growth.
Qualifications• High school diploma with advanced technical training or experience required.
• Minimum of 3 years maintenance experience.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, heating, and cooling systems.
• Carpentry skills.
• Ability to effectively work with vendors, clients, employees, etc.
• Ability to read, understand and apply technical manuals and instructions.
• Ability to handle confidential information.
• Ability to interact with clients and other personnel with sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural and socioeconomic differences.
• Ability to read, understand and apply laws and licensing and accreditation standards.
• Ability to use e-mail and Microsoft Word.
Environment:
• Work is performed both indoors and outside, including at different facilities with driving to those locations. The work may involve work with noisy equipment, sharp objects as well as work on rooftops.
• Additional work may be performed in a variety of settings to meet department needs.
• Involves potential for contact with blood borne pathogens and other contaminants carried by bodily fluids.
Vehicle Requirements:
• Own transportation that meets agency vehicle inspection requirements.
• Valid driver’s license with no more than 3 points.
• Proof of insurance that meets agency requirements.
