Schedule: Tuesday through Friday
Hours: 5:00 PM to 2:30 AM
Shift: 2nd Shift
Schedule Structure: Four 10-hour shifts per week

Hartung Glass Industries is seeking an experienced, hands-on Maintenance Technician to join our 2nd-shift team at our Farmers Branch, Texas glass fabrication facility. This position offers a four-day workweek, Tuesday through Friday, allowing employees to work four 10-hour shifts with three consecutive days off each week.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys troubleshooting equipment, diagnosing mechanical and electrical problems, and getting machinery back into production. You will work directly with industrial manufacturing equipment and facility systems to support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.

Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Technician performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, equipment installation, and emergency maintenance throughout the facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain industrial production machinery and facility equipment.
  • Perform scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance to reduce equipment downtime and improve reliability.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and production-related maintenance issues in a timely manner.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electromechanical equipment failures.
  • Disassemble machinery, identify defective or worn components, replace or repair parts, reassemble equipment, and verify proper operation.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems, motors, sensors, switches, relays, controls, and related components.
  • Assist with troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment, smart relays, and automated production systems.
  • Perform mechanical repairs involving bearings, belts, chains, gearboxes, pumps, motors, conveyors, and drive systems.
  • Install, repair, and maintain conveyors, motors, pumps, fluid distribution systems, and other plant equipment.
  • Perform welding, fabrication, plumbing, and other general industrial maintenance work as required.
  • Fabricate or modify machine components, guards, brackets, and other equipment when necessary.
  • Perform equipment adjustments, alignments, and testing to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Identify recurring equipment problems and recommend corrective actions or equipment improvements.
  • Maintain accurate records of preventive maintenance, repairs, parts usage, and completed work.
  • Assist with maintaining an appropriate inventory of critical spare parts and maintenance supplies.
  • Work with equipment manufacturers and vendors to identify replacement parts, technical information, and repair solutions.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, electrical diagrams, schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance work area.
  • Follow company safety procedures, Lockout/Tagout requirements, OSHA regulations, and applicable federal, state, and local safety requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability, productivity, safety, and reduced downtime.
  • Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.

Requirements

Required Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of industrial manufacturing equipment and maintenance practices.
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, electrical codes, and accepted industrial electrical practices.
  • Experience troubleshooting motors, controls, sensors, relays, switches, and related electrical components.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, programmable controls, smart relays, and automated equipment.
  • Understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, electrical meters, diagnostic equipment, and maintenance-related machinery.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements, Lockout/Tagout procedures, machine guarding, and industrial safety practices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment systematically and determine the root cause of mechanical or electrical failures.
  • Basic computer skills for maintenance documentation, work orders, and equipment information.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of industrial machine maintenance experience required.
  • Technical or vocational training in industrial maintenance, mechanical systems, electrical systems, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience performing electrical, mechanical, welding, plumbing, and general equipment repairs.
  • CNC or automated manufacturing equipment maintenance experience preferred.
  • Glass fabrication or manufacturing industry experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and understand written safety procedures and technical instructions.
  • Ability and willingness to work 2nd shift and respond to equipment issues based on production needs.

Physical Requirements

This is a hands-on industrial maintenance position. Employees must be able to:

  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, reach, crouch, kneel, climb, push, pull, and work around manufacturing equipment.
  • Use hands and fingers to grasp, manipulate, assemble, remove, and install tools, fasteners, wiring, machine components, and equipment parts.
  • Safely lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Work from ladders or elevated positions when required.
  • Work in and around operating industrial machinery.
  • Perform maintenance activities that may require working in confined or restricted areas.
  • Work in a manufacturing environment where exposure to noise, dust, temperature changes, oils, lubricants, and other industrial conditions may occur.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment.
