Our Sturtevant, WI location is part of our Meat Division and creates dry seasoning blends for meat and snacks items that spice up the life of Kerry customers. Compensation Data

The pay range for this position is $25.26 - $35 per hour. Kerry typically does not hire an individual at the top or near the top of the range, as we are a pay-for-performance company, and this range is set to continue to reward performance annually while in role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The specific compensation offered to a candidate within the above range may be influenced by a variety of factors including skills, qualifications, experience, and internal equity. Overview

The Maintenance Technician maintains and repairs production and manufacturing equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime. Reporting to the Maintenance & Engineering Manager, this role involves regular services, preventative and predictive maintenance, and troubleshooting equipment breakdowns. The technician collaborates with team members to maximize efficiency and adheres to all safety and quality standards. Additionally, they use computerized maintenance management systems to organize work orders and document maintenance activities accurately.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all established Kerry LIFE Safety, Food Safety, GMP, HACCP, and processing policies, with a strong focus on quality.
  • Follow all LO/TO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures when performing work on equipment, as required.
  • Maintain safe work practices by avoiding shortcuts and never using improper tools or equipment that could compromise personal safety or the safety of others.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities.
  • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

o Providing regular, continuous service and support to internal customers.

o Performing preventative maintenance procedures.

o Performing predictive maintenance procedures.

o Troubleshooting equipment breakdowns.

o Troubleshooting 480V systems.

o Performing PLC and troubleshooting.

o Performing electrical troubleshooting.

  • Collaborate with team members to achieve the highest level of efficiency.
  • Utilize computerized maintenance management system technology to organize and manage work orders.

What You'll Need To Succeed

Minimum Requirements

  • 3–5 years of industrial maintenance experience.
  • 2–3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Formal certifications, an AAS degree, or equivalent education in a relevant field preferred.
  • Advanced mechanical knowledge of industrial machinery.
  • Experience with load cells, weight displays, metal detectors, pneumatic cylinders, variable frequency drive wiring and parameter entry, bag sealer equipment such as Fischbein PBC 6000, and conveyors.

o Proper bearing installation techniques.

o Proper alignment techniques, including sprocket/sheave alignments and coupling alignments.

o Use of measuring tools, including tape measures, calipers, and gauges.

o Ability to read mechanical schematics.

  • Electrical knowledge of industrial machinery.

o Motor wiring skills.

o Electrical troubleshooting skills.

o Proper use of electrical meters.

o Ability to read electrical schematics.

o Troubleshooting 480V/110V systems.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English at a level necessary to understand job-related terminology.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow written and/or verbal procedures and instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Intermediate computer and report-writing skills.
  • Use and understanding of predictive maintenance tools preferred, including

o Infrared thermography.

o Ultrasound.

  • 2–3 years of mechanical experience in a manufacturing industry.

Working Conditions

  • Food manufacturing plant environment.
  • Warehouse environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to kneel, bend, squat, stoop, carry, reach, stand, grip, push, pull, perform arm extensions, and complete elevated work.
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, or wet environments.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work overtime and maintain a flexible schedule.
  • Ability to walk up to 135 feet one way multiple times per day.
  • Ability to continuously stand and/or walk for up to 12 hours.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
