As a Maintenance Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring predicable performance of factory machines and equipment and building infrastructure. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this job also can be assigned special projects to support factory safety, sustainability, growth, and development.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

  • Perform planned maintenance on machines and equipment based upon cycles, timing or condition, whatever has been found to be the appropriate approach,
  • Perform unplanned maintenance when machines or equipment are found to not be working properly.
  • Recommend appropriate maintenance procedures based upon maintenance manuals and information provided by machine and system suppliers.
  • Recommend on-hand repair parts as determined by maintenance manuals or critical-to-operation parts that have longer leadtimes.
  • Assist the Maintenance Manager with updating and maintaining maintenance management of software records.
  • Perform work associated with changes in manufacturing processes to support safety and efficiency.
  • Perform work associated with the introduction of new equipment.
  • Assist operations in the development of new manufacturing cells which could require performing some select production work.

What we are looking for (Required/Ideal Experience, Skills, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Experience & Skills

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 7-10 years of experience and technical training in HVAC, electrical, or mechanical systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Familiarity with blueprints, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Valid forklift operator's license, an asset
  • Responsible, self-motivated, and a good team player
  • Knowledge and practical experience with standard computer applications
  • Adhering to OSHA regulations and using safety equipment.
  • For electrical technicians:
    • Valid state or local electrician licenses and certifications such as CET (Certified Electronics Technician) or OSHA 10/30.
    • Strong understanding of AC/DC circuits, PLCs, motor controls, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and electrical testing tools (multimeters, oscilloscopes).

Travel & Working Environment

  • Manufacturing plant environment
  • External training at existing SPX locations including Olathe, KS and Montreal, Quebec
