Job Description

Join Pacific National – Australia’s largest private rail freight operator

Every day we transport millions of tonnes of critical freight around the country for our customers. We haul coal, intermodal containers, steel, and bulk commodities that keep Australia moving.

  • Hybrid working arrangements supporting work life balance
  • Hands-on role supporting asset management systems used across operations
  • Play an active role in shaping and supporting key changes across our maintenance systems and processes

About the Role

Pacific National is seeking a proactive and detail‑oriented Maintenance Systems Co‑ordinator located in Newcastle to support the daily operation and ongoing performance of our Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS), Maximo.

This role ensures system functionality, data accuracy and process consistency across the organisation, supporting efficient maintenance planning and work management. You will provide expert advice, user support and governance oversight while working collaboratively with maintenance teams, system users, IT and asset management stakeholders.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with experience using asset management or maintenance systems who enjoys working closely with users, improving processes and supporting operational teams — without requiring deep technical development or specialist engineering qualifications

What you’ll be doing

  • Act as the primary contact for Maximo users, providing support on system functionality, business processes and troubleshooting.
  • Support internal and external user training requirements and onboarding.
  • Assist business teams with enhancements and implementations within asset management systems.
  • Test new or updated system functionality in the UAT environment and provide structured feedback.
  • Investigate and document Maximo issues, escalating to IT or relevant teams as needed.
  • Support master data activities, including collection, cleansing and upload of asset data.
  • Conduct data and process audits, documenting findings and recommending improvements.
  • Monitor system health indicators such as open work orders, overdue PMs and ageing purchase orders, advising the Maintenance Systems Team on trends.
  • Promote consistency and alignment in data standards, templates and processes across sites.

What you’ll bring

  • Experience managing large sets of master data and transactional data.
  • Experience working with asset management or maintenance systems (CMMS or similar).
  • A good understanding of asset management principles and maintenance processes.
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to interpret data to support business decisions.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement capability, with the ability to guide and support users at all levels.
  • High organisational skills, able to manage multiple priorities and maintain attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team as well as independently.
