Job Description

Do you have a heart for ministry, a love for hands-on work, and a passion for serving with excellence? Black Mountain Home for Children is seeking a dependable Maintenance Support Technician to help care for our campus through general maintenance, landscaping, and facility upkeep. This role plays a vital part in ensuring our grounds and buildings are safe, functional, and welcoming for the children, youth, and families we serve.

The ideal candidate combines practical skill with a servant's heart - someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys collaborating with others, and finds joy in serving behind the scenes to help our ministry honor Christ through excellence in stewardship.

The Maintenance Support Technician supports the overall maintenance of the ministry's buildings and property - completing repairs, caring for campus grounds, and assisting with special projects that help us create an environment reflecting care, safety, and beauty.

  • Perform general maintenance, repairs, and preventative upkeep across campus.
  • Complete landscaping, groundskeeping, and gardening tasks to keep campus areas clean and attractive.

  • Help care for animals in the Animal Program as needed.
  • Keep work areas and maintenance shop clean, organized, and safe.
  • Enter and update maintenance requests in the WorxHub system.
  • Provide guidance to volunteers or youth assisting with maintenance tasks.
  • Participate in staff meetings, devotions, and prayer times.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience in general facility, landscaping, or grounds maintenance
  • Current and valid driver's license
  • Ability to lift/move up to 80 pounds and perform strenuous labor
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Availability to work one to two weekends per month as needed

Preferred

  • Experience with maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, or electrical systems
  • Experience working in non-profit, ministry, or youth-serving environments
