Job Description

This position is responsible for planning and supervising the execution of cost effective and timely maintenance necessary for the operation of equipment and overall production operations. This includes directing, coordinating and supporting maintenance personnel, working with contractors, vendors or company engineering in the modification or installation of equipment, and troubleshooting and resolving new and/or different technical problems regarding equipment. Assures work performed is in compliance with relevant company and legislative food safety and food quality requirements as needed.

  • Sends out a daily downtime report and ensures a daily downtime report is sent out by crew leader or back up crew leader. Embraces the line owner position by scheduling work to appropriate line owner and ensuring line owner works well with operator as well as understands the importance of handoffs to ensure accurate documentation.
  • Able to use a computer efficiently understanding Microsoft office, CMMS, Lawson, WHIMs, Oracle Apps. Has an ability to file and store electronic documents as well as keeping electronic documents up to date including RCAs, metrics, shift investigations, audits, and inspections.
  • Drives root cause analysis processes to improve machine downtime. Understands mechanical systems and manufacturing processes at Wells Dairy. Comes prepared to production meetings with answers and facts on what took place. Communicates with alternate shift maintenance and production supervisors to ensure seamless shift changes.
  • Manages the work schedule of the employees for days worked and payroll. Schedules work orders and PMs to employees to ensure high department efficiency and labor utilization. Contributes to building the budget with manager and works to maintain the budget to ensure favorable results. Works to keep R&M within budget as well as manages the execution of REOs.
  • Builds capability of maintenance team by providing coaching, training and technical expertise. Utilizes the performance management process to effectively and consistently coach and develop the team while holding them accountable. Supports and administers the progression system in the department ensuring everyone meets the training requirements.
  • Ensures compliance of the department for safety and code regulations including but not limited to Arc Flash, LO/TO, and OSHA regulations.
  • Leads reliability initiatives in the maintenance department. Is responsible for execution of PM programs on manufacturing equipment and mechanical systems. Is responsible for all PM documentation and accuracy. Is expected to have PMs completed on time and develop proactive work to ensure plant reliability. Drives predictive technologies including but not limited to conditioned based monitoring and inspections, vibration analysis, infrared technology, oil and lubrication analysis. Leads reliability teams weekly with all groups to help eliminate all downtime.
  • Demonstrates technical abilities of manufacturing equipment; is a technical resource for direct reports, internal and external customers. Ensures reliability of equipment and processes through driving and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Works with vendors and parts personnel to drive improvements to equipment through design changes and parts improvements. Works with engineering on plant projects and machine modifications.
  • In addition to the responsibilities listed above, other duties may be assigned by your supervisor, as dictated by business necessity.

Education

Associate of Applied Science (A. A. S.) degree, equivalent technical school, or work experience.

Experience

8-10 years previous industrial maintenance experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience with 3-5 years of progressive leadership experience.

  • Thorough knowledge of the occupation hazards and corresponding safety precautions necessary for the safe performance of assigned duties at WDI.
  • Knowledge and adherence to WDIs good manufacturing practices (GMPs) Knowledge of basic maintenance techniques including hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical.
