FUNCTION: OPERATIONS
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading maintenance, tool crib, facilities, and spare parts support activities to ensure safe, dependable, and efficient plant operations. This role supervises technical personnel, drives preventive and corrective maintenance execution, supports tooling and equipment reliability, and oversees maintenance spare parts inventory, contractor services, and tool crib operations. The position partners closely with production and engineering to reduce downtime, improve service levels, support capital projects, and strengthen workplace organization and continuous improvement.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and assign activities of technical personnel across mechanical, electrical, facilities, tooling, and maintenance support functions, including preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and TPM execution
- Supervise daily activities of maintenance technicians, tool crib attendants, and facilities support to ensure department goals and service expectations are achieved
- Coordinate and execute preventive maintenance procedures for manufacturing equipment
- Monitor equipment performance across production areas and provide technical support as needed to reduce downtime and restore operation quickly
- Follow up on maintenance work order priorities, with strong focus on urgent and emergency orders
- Support equipment installation, operator training, and product validation runs
- Drive projects to reduce cost through downtime reduction, energy savings, improved maintenance effectiveness, and service improvements
- Coach and mentor maintenance, tool room, and support associates to strengthen capability and prepare employees for the next level
- Support implementation of capital projects related to tooling, facilities, and equipment maintenance, providing practical input aligned with plant and business goals
- Lead maintenance tool crib operations, including coordination of tool crib attendants and support for building maintenance, tooling technicians, and engineering maintenance technicians
- Track daily tooling status, building maintenance issues, and inventory accuracy for maintenance spare parts and crib-controlled items
- Ensure compliance with tool crib rules, inventory processes, and workplace organization standards
- Coordinate tool crib coverage based on business needs
- Oversee maintenance spare parts inventory, including establishing min/max levels based on usage and lead times
- Obtain quotes for maintenance parts, equipment support items, and contracted services
- Create requisitions for parts and outside services and track deliveries, lead times, and back orders
- Track completion and service quality of outside contractors such as HVAC, air compressors, RO systems, and similar support services
- Train tool crib attendants and other relevant personnel on inventory system processes, standard work, and support expectations
- Promote daily 5S activities, workplace organization, and continuous improvement across maintenance and support areas
- Provide responsive support to production, maintenance, engineering, and other departments requesting service
- Follow lockout/tagout and all other applicable safety procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
EDUCATION:
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineer, Manufacturing Engineering, or a degree in related filed is required.
EXPERIENCE:
COMPETENCIES & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a maintenance or engineering position, preferably in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong Mechanical, electrical, pneumatics, PLC and machine shop experience required.
- Previous supervisory or team leader experience preferred.
- Experience in the operation of personal computers required.
- Must have excellent organizational skills with a proven history.
- Must be able to use correct mechanical/electrical terminology.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel
- Must be familiar with preventive maintenance computer programs.
- Must be able to manage employees in a pressure work environment
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Experience in environmental, health and safety preferred
- Must have knowledge and experience in OSHA and Lock-out / Tag-out programs and/or guidelines.
- Ability to operate a lift truck
