The Role

Under general supervision, the Maintenance Supervisor will supervise overall repairs and maintenance for the assigned site(s). The Supervisor is responsible for managing day-to-day activities and tasks of custodial/maintenance staff to ensure all in-house repairs and tasks is completed and facilities are kept clean and safe at all times. The Supervisor will also work in conjunction with the Maintenance Director to evaluate all work orders and liaise with contractors/vendors to perform work in an efficient and cost effective manner. This work is carried out in support of the mission and goals of Samaritan Daytop Village.

Responsibilities

What You Will Do

  • Maintains property in good condition, in compliance with all building codes, licensure and certifying body physical plant requirements.
  • Supervises maintenance and custodial workers and Projects Team so as to carry out all in-house repairs, alterations and projects.
  • Monitors and/or assists in contract compliance for physical plant projects by outside contractors.
  • Performs necessary repairs as needed.
  • Handles training of subordinate staff and participates in hiring, disciplining, appraising and terminating of same.
  • Maintains, understands and utilizes specific service contractors.
  • Devises and executes a plan for keeping site(s) within agency expectations.
  • Maintains a schedule of general maintenance, cleaning and general repairs for facility.
  • Troubleshoots and responds to all emergencies.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

Qualifications

Who You Will Be

  • Licensure in one or more fields such as electrical, plumbing, and general construction.
  • Clean NYS Driver’s License.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • At least Five (5) years of experience in renovation, construction, and building maintenance for a large scale employer with multiple sites with at least Two (2) years experience functioning in a supervisory capacity.
  • Working knowledge of all phases of building trades and general knowledge of building repair and maintenance, including, but not limited to, maintenance and repair of building systems (e.g. electrical, HVAC, and fire safety) and the maintenance and repair of interior building components (e.g., carpentry, masonry, and tile repair).
  • Background in HVAC and Fire Safety Systems.
  • Familiarity with housing building and safety codes.
  • Ability to use common tools, materials, and equipment, and be able to climb ladders and scaffolds and work from either.
  • Computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness to travel to multiple sites and respond to all facilities-related emergencies (i.e floods, storms, fire, etc.) outside of normal business hours.
