Job Title

Maintenance Supervisor

Shaw Industries is hiring a Maintenance Supervisor to provide supervision of daily maintenance operations within designated production departments; supervises and evaluates the work of maintenance employees and external contractors. This person will effectively manage procedures, policies, and systems to create a successful departmental environment. This includes interaction with support areas, communication with teammates, promoting safety, and interfacing with Leadership. Works with Hourly Teammates, Human Resources, and the Plant Engineer daily. This position is also in charge of assigning staff based on workloads and schedules; assists in overseeing the repairs to equipment, machinery, and facility; develops, interprets and implements policies and procedures; ensures that staff is trained in maintenance activities and are following standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities

General

  • Utilizes audit processes for Continuous Improvement efforts by coordinating with Lean Leadership, Department Managers, and Production Managers.

  • Prepares shift for job assignments, production scheduling, projects and standard work, by working with Hourly Teammates, Department Supervisors, and Planners.

  • Demonstrates and assists with plant efforts to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work to provide quality customer care.

  • Monitors and participates in operations for assigned areas including inspecting projects, developing and implementing modifications and improvements, recommending specifications and scheduling for contracts, inspecting contractor’s work to ensure safe work practices and standard operating procedures are followed.

  • Supports and promotes Continuous Improvement through the Quality/Environmental Improvement Team.

  • Report to management any quality and safety problems and potential production issues that are encountered while performing the job

  • Perform all job duties in a safe manner without bodily injury to self or others

  • Perform all related job duties and other Responsibilities assigned by Department Manager

  • Adhere to normal work schedule and be able to work weekends and holidays as needed.

Safety

  • Ensures that proper safety practices are being followed by working with the supervisor and manager; including ensuring that all plant-required PPE is being used and is kept in good repair at all times.

  • Coordinates safety training for maintenance personnel as needed. This includes lunch & learns at the plant.

Administration

  • Use PeopleSoft procurement system to order parts and supplies related to job.

  • Learn and use EZ Entry/TPM system to set up and receive work instructions.

  • Administrative Responsibilities (Policies, Kronos, PeopleSoft, Attendance, Corrective Discipline, Correspondence, Production Entries, Inventory, etc.), by working with Hourly Teammates, Payroll, Human Resources and IT.

  • Implements SMS policies and initiatives.

  • Work with the Planners in SP and SI to get jobs planned and kitted accordingly.

  • Attend meetings as required.

Work order management

  • Schedule and organize work orders with the direction of the Department Manager.

  • Assign work orders to specific maintenance employees.

  • Follow-up on assigned work orders to ensure that they are completed in an efficient and timely manner.

  • Inspects work for completeness

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • Previous Lead or Supervisor experience in Maintenance in the most recent 5 years

Preferred:

  • 1+ years previous Maintenance supervisory experience

  • Experience working with Extrusion process

  • Experience working with automation systems, robotics or PLCs

Work Shift

8 Hr non-rotating shift, Hrs fall to in punch day, Observed Calendar, shift starts AM
