Title: Maintenance Supervisor
Department: Maintenance
Immediate Supervisor: Facilities Manager
Status: Exempt Salaried
Position Purpose: Plan, direct and control the efforts of the Maintenance Department to maintain plant equipment and facilities commensurate with good, safe engineering practices. Lead the mechanical/electrical maintenance mechanics to provide maintenance services to all manufacturing and support areas while working within an approved budget. Plan and prioritize master work schedule. Focus on safety, quality, on-time performance, training and maintenance reliability program to ensure optimal performance is achieved.

Principle Accountabilities
• Perform routine safety and environmental audits within established guidelines to ensure compliance with OSHA and other governmental agency regulations.
• Participate and/or support as a resource the Intertape Performance System (IPS) Safety Teams to ensure that the maintenance crew is knowledgeable of site safety requirements. Participate in safety audits such as the STOP program.
• Participate in Intertape Performance System (IPS) and Bridge to Excellence (B2E) initiatives for maintenance.
• Participate in the design and fabrication of continuous improvement projects and plans.
• Ensure safe work practices and procedures are followed. Identify unsafe conditions and take corrective action on those within your control. Report all others immediately to site management. Suggest ideas for safety related improvements to the process or procedures.
• Maintain all operating equipment in satisfactory condition. Schedule needed repair to have minimum interference.
• Assure that production equipment is capable of producing within the established specifications and tolerance.
• Assist with projects such as modifications to existing equipment and facilities, or installations of new equipment.
• Review maintenance work requirements: identify if target completion dates will be met, amount of work to be accomplished, and resources needed. Advise Manufacturing Manager of any issues or delays.
• Review maintenance work requests to control and schedule unpredictable work as requested by Manufacturing.
• Prepares and reviews maintenance records and reports to identify trends or areas of concern. Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. Advises manufacturing management of findings.
• Write work instructions and procedures for the maintenance team and related work activities that support the site.
• Knowledgeable of hazards, special instructions and precautions as outlined in Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
• Maintains a safe and clean work working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
• Participate as a key member of the Safety pillar team and environmental compliance.
• Accountable for the preventive maintenance program, and maintenance of production equipment and facilities.
• Develop, maintain and administer an organization qualified to maintain all equipment and facilities in a safe and efficient working condition. Execute an effective preventive maintenance program to minimize unscheduled down time.
• Consult with the Production Department regarding desirable modifications of existing equipment and facilities and the possible replacement of existing equipment which will improve operations and reduce maintenance costs.
• Coordinate the efficient operation of all facilities necessary to the distribution and usage of electric power, natural gas and water.
• Develop objectives and standards of performance for projects within the Maintenance Department required to meet departmental, divisional and corporate goals and objectives.
• Plan and provide for an adequate supply and ensure control over spare parts and maintenance supplies.
• Set work priorities and objectives and assure that mechanics meet or exceed them.
• Coordinate work for major usage change.
• Train, supervise and evaluate Maintenance staff.
• Advise Maintenance personnel on difficult technical and personnel problems.
• All other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, a strong asset
• Supervisory experience of a maintenance team
• 5 years of related industrial experience
• Or High School Diploma/Associate’s Degree and 7-10 years of industrial maintenance experience as a lead
• Extensive knowledge of the methods, practices, techniques, tools, equipment and materials used in plant maintenance and repair.
• Experience in purchasing of spare part maintenance
• Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of supervision.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, project scheduling and team leadership abilities.
• Ability to read and understand plans and blueprints.
• Must have expertise and proficiency with basic office computer software, e.g., word processing, email and spreadsheets.
