Key Responsibilities


Leadership and Supervision:

Directly supervise Maintenance personnel and provide day‑to‑day leadership for the Maintenance department.

Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies, procedures, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.

Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, train, evaluate, and develop employees.

Plan, assign, and direct work; monitor performance; address employee concerns; and administer corrective action as necessary.
Operational Excellence:

Plan, direct, and delegate Maintenance activities to ensure uninterrupted production, adherence to quality standards, and control of manufacturing costs.

Develop and manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs using current technologies, data analysis, and CMMS software.

Ensure accurate maintenance records, including asset repair history and preventive maintenance schedules.

Communicate equipment status, maintenance priorities, and project progress with supervisors, managers, and engineering teams.
Project and Cost Management:

Develop and execute aggressive yet achievable project schedules and realistic cost estimates in support of business requirements.

Participate in and support initiatives related to cost reduction, process improvement, and operational efficiency.

Recommend changes to working conditions, workflows, and equipment utilization to improve productivity and effectiveness.
Compliance and Safety:

Ensure compliance with OSHA, ISO, company standards, and all applicable safety programs and procedures.

Enforce compliance with applicable bargaining unit agreements within assigned areas of responsibility.

Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the Maintenance team.

Cross-Functional Support:

Support Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Planning teams with accurate data for production scheduling, capacity planning, and material availability.

Collaborate with EHS, HR, Engineering, Quality & Continuous Improvement teams to ensure data supports regulatory and compliance requirements.

Identify opportunities to improve data workflows, reduce manual effort, and increase automation.



Participate in lean, digital manufacturing, and operational excellence initiatives.


Additional Responsibilities:

Coordinate and participate in administrative and technical programs, including training initiatives and communication efforts.

Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives.

Qualifications

Core Qualifications and Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma/GED is standard, with vocational training, technical certificates, or an associate/bachelor’s degree in facility management or industrial technology highly valued.
  • Experience: Requires 5+ years of general Maintenance experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership position preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and building automation systems.
  • Safety & Compliance: Thorough understanding of OSHA regulations, safety protocols, and risk management.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Leadership: Proven ability to manage a team, schedule staff, train employees, and manage vendors.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong diagnostic skills for diagnosing and repairing equipment.
  • Administrative & Computer Skills: Proficiency in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and MS Office, plus experience with budgeting.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to perform tasks involving lifting, climbing, and working in varied environmental conditions.

Common Industry-Specific Experience

  • Industrial/Manufacturing: Focus on production machinery, robotics, and heavy equipment maintenance.
  • Institutional/Facilities: Focus on equipment reliability, HVAC, complex building systems, and vendor management.
