Fleet Maintenance & Technical Services is responsible for: scheduled, unscheduled and emergency service; seasonal overhauls; vehicle commissioning/decommissioning; vehicle inspections and certifications; warranty monitoring; shop and specialty tool maintenance/management; maintenance of small equipment and special equipment such as fire, ambulance, ice resurfacing, turf, etc.; repair performance analysis; and Technical Services including specifying, acquiring, leasing and disposing of Municipal Fleet Vehicles.
You are responsible for supervising technicians in assigned city garage(s) who provide planned and unplanned maintenance, service and repair of the City’s diverse fleet of vehicles and equipment. You are also responsible for planning, scheduling and re-scheduling the daily/weekly/monthly work, and conducting business/operational activities, to optimize service life, safety and cost efficiency, align with client priorities, and ensure compliance with legislated/regulatory requirements.
Completion of Automotive Service Technician 310S apprenticeship program of 7220 hours and Truck and Coach Technician 310T apprenticeship program of 6720 hours
Minimum of 8 years of experience in a municipal fleet maintenance or similar environment, including experience in a leadership role.
Valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification as Truck and Coach Technician 310T and Automotive Service Technician 310STSSA Regulated Fuels Safety certificate (natural gas, propane and/or alternate fuel)Valid Ontario unrestricted DZ class driver’s licence (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated is an asset
