Reports to: Operations Manager

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day maintenance operations, ensuring equipment reliability, and supervising a team of 1-5 maintenance personnel. This role includes coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and supporting operational efficiency at chemical distribution facility in New Haven, CT.

To fulfill these responsibilities, the Maintenance Supervisor is empowered to manage work priority, engage the proper resources to develop and implement equipment, process, and administrative standards, identify training opportunities throughout the plant, and recommend asset selection criteria and installation standards. The Maintenance Supervisor will monitor department performance relative to safety, environment, reliability, quality, efficiency, and cost control to continually improve performance.

HSE&S RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure all policies, guidelines and standards are practiced and enforced
  • OSHA Process Safety Management program 29 CFR 1910.119
  • EPA Risk Management Program 40 CFR Part 68
  • DHS Appropriations Act of 2007 CFATS program
  • All other applicable regulatory requirements as they apply
  • ACC/ Responsible Care
  • Alternate contact for regulatory agencies that visit the plant site
  • Incident investigation and mitigation to prevent recurrence
  • Near miss investigation and mitigation to strive for Beyond Zero
  • Recognize and reward employees that demonstrate outstanding HSE&S behavior
  • Complete and conduct applicable training as needed
  • Audit participation and mitigation

SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent safety standards
  • Strong knowledge and experience with CMMS, PM Optimization, and RCFA Methodologies
  • Strong background with Maintenance Management Best Practices such as TPM/TPR
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering strongly preferred but not required for qualified candidates
  • Chemical manufacturing facility experience
  • Supervisor skills and experience
  • Leadership skills and experience
  • 40 Hour HAZWOPER certification
  • Respirator Fit Test
  • Positive change leader
  • Able to work effectively with competing priorities
  • Project management skills to ensure optimal life cycle costs, schedule, and budget
  • Verbal and written communication skills with multiple levels in the organization and external suppliers
  • Strong decision making skills
  • Strong diplomacy and interpersonal skills

  • Physically able to handle the challenges of the work floor (plant navigation, climbing stairs/ladders, able to wear respirator, etc.)

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • 5 years of experience in maintenance
  • Experience working in a corrosive environment
  • Experience working in a PSM and RMP facility
  • Experience in applying industry RAGAGEPs – Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (API, NACE, ISA, ANSI, ASTM, NFPA, etc.)

Position Details

Reports To Operations Manager

Travel Requirements: Occasional overnight for training purposes

Shift: Scheduled hours are M-F 7am – 4:00 pm, also includes on call for Operations emergencies
