Job Description

We are seeking a reliable, safety‑focused Maintenance Supervisor to join our Brandy Hill Quarry team in Seaham, approximately one hour north of Newcastle.

This full‑time role reports to the Quarry Manager, with standard hours from 5:30am–1:30pm, Monday to Friday, some overtime, including Saturdays may be required.

The Maintenance Supervisor oversees daily maintenance operations across the quarry’s fixed and mobile plant, ensuring all work is completed efficiently, safely, and in line with Heidelberg Materials’ standards. Tasks will include planned maintenance, shutdowns, reactive repair work, minor fabrication, resource coordination, and on‑site supervision.

In your new role, you will:

  • Oversee day‑to‑day activities within the maintenance workshop

  • Supervise the Leading Hand, Tradesperson, and all maintenance personnel

  • Coordinate and oversee contractors working on-site

  • Manage and maintain all fixed plant and mobile equipment to ensure optimal performance

  • Plan, schedule, and prioritise maintenance and repair tasks

  • Lead and respond to equipment breakdowns to minimise production impacts.

  • Manage and monitor the maintenance budget

  • Contribute as part of the Brandy Hill Quarry leadership team to support operational outcomes

  • Conduct regular inspections of plant and equipment to ensure compliance with safety and statutory requirements

  • Carry out in depth root cause annalist investigations on equipment failures and downtime events

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and report incidents promptly

  • Recommend improvements to maintenance processes, equipment reliability, or operational efficiency

  • Ensure workshop inventory levels are maintained, including components, parts, and consumables

  • Support housekeeping and maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop in line with 5S standards

  • Travel to other sites when required for reviews or maintenance support

This role is a great fit for you, if have:

  • Experience in a quarry, mining, or heavy industrial environment (preferred)

  • A strong mechanical understanding of fixed and mobile plant

  • Previous leadership experience supervising small teams

  • A demonstrated commitment to high standards of safety and compliance

  • Skills in fault‑finding and problem‑solving

  • A motivation to contribute improvements to maintenance practices and equipment performance
