INTRODUCTION
UConn’s Facilities Operations Department has a job opening for a Maintenance Supervisor 1 – General (MS1 – General) position at the Stamford Campus location. This is a permanent, full-time, 1st shift position, with a work schedule of Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., 37.5 hours per week with an unpaid half an hour for lunch.

This position is categorized as Emergency Support Services/Essential Staff. Must be willing to work during emergency closures/delayed openings due to inclement weather or for significant events that effect campus operations. Applicants must also be willing to respond to emergencies on overtime (nights, weekends holidays).
Please note that the candidate selected for this position will primarily be assigned to the Stamford Campus, however, this position will also require the incumbent to perform job duties at any of the Regional Campuses as assigned.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
At UConn, the Stamford Regional Campus MS1 – General position for the Facilities Operations Department is responsible for supervising the highly skilled work assigned to both NP-2 employees and contracted employees. This position is responsible for coordinating the daily work assignments for all levels of employees ranging from skilled trades to custodial; scheduling and assigning work to employees through AiM, estimating labor and material for jobs including writing quotes; providing information to supervisors and managers on the status and progress of jobs; assisting employees with troubleshooting work and resolving issues; physically completing work orders, working with the manager to address disciplinary actions as required; monitoring the progress of job assignments through completion; overseeing the progress of renovations and upgrades; establishing good customer relations/communication; reviewing/approving time entries in CORE-CT and completing overtime equalization rosters; completing administrative computer work and paperwork as required; working with the Facilities Operations Business Services Staff to coordinate Environmental Health & Safety and UConn training for employees which includes, but is not limited to: Asbestos Awareness, Confined Space, Lockout/Tag out, Mold Awareness, and Respiratory Protection & Fit Testing.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Five (5) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of buildings.
NOTE: Experience performing technical duties within the maintenance trade area on a military base, aircraft carrier or large compound may be substituted for the General Experience on a year for year basis.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – SPECIAL EXPERIENCE
Three (3) years of the General Experience must have included performing skilled tasks in either the maintenance and repair of buildings or the military experience referenced above.
NOTE: For state employees this experience is interpreted at the level of a Skilled Maintainer.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED
Graduation from vocational or technical school may be substituted for one (1) year of the General Experience.
