SPL has an exciting opportunity to join the team as an Equipment Specialist.

The Maintenance Storeroom Technician is responsible for the inventory control process for the maintenance storeroom, which includes receipt, storage, inspection and tracking of maintenance and repair materials. This role ensures critical spare parts are available, organized, and properly documented to minimize downtime and improve asset performance. This role coordinates purchasing activities for maintenance parts and supplies and also provides mechanical support by performing basic preventive maintenance tasks and assisting maintenance mechanics as needed. Works under general supervision with technical independence in determining work methods and procedures.

Responsibilities include

Inventory & Materials Management

  • Receive, inspect, label, and store incoming materials and spare parts
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels in the CMMS or inventory system
  • Use the FIIX computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to track inventory against work orders and purchase parts as needed to complete work orders
  • Perform regular cycle counts and participate in physical inventories
  • Identify obsolete, excess, or critical spare parts and communicate findings

Storeroom Organization & Control

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and secure storeroom environment
  • Ensure parts are stored according to best practices (FIFO, environmental controls, kitting where applicable)
  • Establish and maintain standardized labeling and bin locations
  • Support 5S and continuous improvement initiatives in the storeroom

Procurement & Vendor Support

  • Coordinate purchasing activities for maintenance parts and supplies; seek management authorization for purchases as required.
  • Create or support purchase requisitions for stocked and non-stocked items
  • Track open orders and follow up with vendors to meet maintenance needs
  • Verify correct parts, quantities, and documentation upon receipt
  • Coordinate returns, warranties, and repairable spares

Maintenance & Reliability Support

  • Assist in identifying critical spares and min/max inventory levels
  • Provide feedback to maintenance planners on parts usage and lead times
  • Support equipment shutdowns, outages, and emergency repairs
  • Assist in the training of Maintenance Department personnel on inventory procedures and CMMS usage.
  • Support snow removal and grounds maintenance activities as needed.
  • Work overtime or on a call-in basis as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements and

Qualifications



Experience: High school diploma or G.E.D. or equivalent required, Associate’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.

Education: 3+ years’ Inventory management, purchasing, or storeroom operations experience required, 5+ years’ experience in an industrial or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment preferred
