Maintenance Storeroom Parts Assistant

The Maintenance Team Member (Storeroom Parts Assistant) manages and maintains the process flow for maintenance parts, including receiving, organized storage, kitting, and cycle counting in support of operational excellence in the maintenance department. This role will perform any combination of the following tasks: purchasing, receiving, issuing, storing, and distributing materials, tools, equipment, and products to support maintenance activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Schedule: Monday – Friday 6:00 am to 2:30 pm

Work Location: 1000 Italian Way, Excelsior Springs, MO, 64024

Salary, based on experience and other qualifications: $31.25 to $35.93 per hour, with additional bonus potential.

What a Maintenance Team Member (Storeroom Parts Assistant) Does:

  • Support maintenance planned maintenance activities by staging parts and kits for work orders.
  • Perform cycle counts and assist with physical inventory audits.
  • Process receipts and distribute orders, comparing receipts to items listed on purchase orders.
  • Ensure proper labeling, storage, and identification of parts and materials.
  • Organize shelves, bins, and storage locations using established standards.
  • Support 5S and Continuous Improvement initiatives within the storeroom.
  • Identify obsolete, damaged, or duplicate inventory items.
  • Assist with expediting urgent maintenance parts when required.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and update records in CMMS systems.
  • Follow all safety protocols and uphold GMPs and food safety standards.
  • Collaborate with team members and leadership to resolve equipment issues and minimize downtime.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

  • Follow all safety protocols, including LOTO, confined space, and hot work practices, while maintaining hazard-free work areas.

Team Collaboration, Leadership & Training

  • Communicate effectively with team members to support production and learn from senior staff.
  • Engage in on-the-job training to develop skills in inventory management processes.
  • Work closely with maintenance leadership, production teams, and other mechanics to complete projects and support production goals.
  • Provide feedback to improve preventive maintenance programs and mentor less experienced team members.

Documentation, Communication & Continuous Improvement

  • Gain experience in documenting maintenance activities and using the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Use the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for data entry and reporting.
  • Stay current on training expectations.

Knowledge, Training, and Experience:

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 5+ years of proven experience in maintenance storeroom, warehouse, inventory control, or industrial maintenance. Experience using SAP preferred.
  • Strong organizational and inventory management skills.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge of industrial maintenance parts and equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Personal traits--progressive, adaptable, flexible, high-energy, mature, strong interpersonal skills
  • 18+ years of age.

Technical & Mechanical Skills:

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions as well as perform accurate math functions.
  • Understands and abides by Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Experience working with manufacturing equipment preferred.
  • Strong PC skills and excellent use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook).
  • Demonstrate mechanical aptitude.

  • Commitment to following all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Must wear all required personal protection equipment (PPE) associated with the specific manufacturing work environment and job duties as stated in the Employee Handbook, posted policies, or as assigned by leadership personnel.
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures, including lockout/tagout, safe lifting techniques, and other procedures as instructed.

Physical Demands:

  • Employees must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Tasks may involve frequent climbing, pulling, pushing, carrying, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning, and stooping.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently.
  • Must have good hand-eye coordination, motor skills, and 20/20 corrected vision.
  • Must have normal hearing and vision (with correction if needed), including the ability to distinguish colors for color-coded containers in production areas.
  • Employees must wear all required PPE in accordance with the specific manufacturing environment, as outlined in the Employee Handbook, posted policies, or as directed by leadership.
  • Must adhere to all safety policies, including lockout/tag-out, safe lifting techniques, and others as instructed.
  • Exposure to wet, humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high areas, fumes, airborne particles, extreme temperatures, electrical risks, and vibrations, depending on the area assigned
  • Must maintain a clean and safe work environment and report any food safety or quality issues immediately to management.
