The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is recruiting for a Maintenance Specialist, Building/Facility/Construction, Journey 1, for the Spring Creek Correctional Center (SCCC), located in Seward, Alaska.
Maintenance Generalist Lead position reports to the Maintenance Foreman and is primarily responsible for, but not limited to, performing general rough and finish carpentry work. Installing and repairs carpet, flooring, tile and drywall. Prepares surfaces for paint and paints surfaces. Repairs and maintains structures and equipment. Operates heavy equipment.
The mission of Spring Creek Correctional Center is to provide a secure environment for staff and offenders that promotes public safety and provides an opportunity for staff development, and reformative offender programming to ensure safety and efficient resources management. As the State of Alaska's only Maximum Security adult male facility we provide confinement for minimum, medium, and close custody sentenced felons including the state's most violent and predatory offenders.
Spring Creek Correctional Center is a maximum security state operated adult correctional institution that has a capacity of over 500 male inmates and employs approximately 200 staff. While much of Spring Creek's inmate population serve long term sentences, we also house prisoners serving shorter sentences.

Starting salary may be approved up to Step C - $33.50, if criteria are met.

A security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is necessary to use APSIN. DPS will deny security clearance for any applicant who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in this state or another jurisdiction, or who may be a fugitive from justice. Additionally, security clearance will be withdrawn if DPS discovers that material information was falsified or omitted at the time of the initial application for security clearance.
