This position is being recruited for in Anchorage.
In both an office setting and in the "field" (Remote Alaskan villages), the Remote Maintenance Worker (RMW) position provides training and technical assistance to rural utility operators. This position must show initiative and an ability to work independently in the field, applying specific skills in plumbing and pipefitting, electronics and electrical troubleshooting, carpentry, and general building maintenance to find solutions to operation and maintenance problems encountered in village water and sewer systems. This position is also called upon to provide immediate emergency response to rural Alaskan utility systems to evert a potential catastrophic failure.
The applicant must have the ability to assess the situation, formulate a plan and make appropriate decisions to follow through to completion of the project or resolution of the problem or issue.
The Remote Maintenance Worker Program develops the capacity of Rural Alaskans to operate local water and sewer facilities while safeguarding State and Federal capital investments in utility infrastructure. Our primary services are to:

This position is based in the Anchorage office and is centrally located to the communities we serve. We offer the opportunity for hybrid Telework (work from home on certain days) once the incumbent is competent in the duties and responsibilities of the position, which historically takes 6-12 months.
