Key Responsibilities May Include:

  • Perform proactive and reactive maintenance activities with a multi-skilled approach, ensuring strict adherence to health and safety protocols at all times.
  • Support the site’s reliability initiatives by identifying failure modes, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions to improve equipment performance.
  • Assist in scheduling and executing maintenance tasks, ensuring proper documentation of work orders and tasks to maintain accurate maintenance records.
  • Actively seek opportunities to improve maintenance processes and procedures, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and contributing to overall plant performance.
  • Conduct risk assessments for all tasks using site-specific or dynamic risk assessment procedures to ensure the safety of both equipment and personnel.
  • Prioritize employee health and safety, product quality, and environmental protection in all maintenance activities, ensuring all efforts contribute to improved plant performance and reliability.
  • Manage the technical engineering and maintenance activities at the Service Centre
  • Use Cont. Improvement tools to increase plant performance & reduce costs
  • Management of internal maintenance staff and external contractors in the efficient resolution of process machinery breakdowns
  • Establishing and maintaining working relationships with contractors
  • Co-ordinate and participate in all activities related to facility maintenance and site services
  • Develop and implement an effective Preventative Maintenance programs
  • Maintain necessary stock levels of spare parts and consumable materials
  • Manage and implement/participate in technical improvement projects
  • Manage resources within department to ensure sufficient shift coverage
  • Provide call-out support in emergency situations
  • Maintain all the necessary documentation for machinery, equipment and the facility to meet legislative requirements
  • Ensure workers health and safety is not put at risk by maintaining a safe and injury free workplace for all employees, contractors and visitors through the conformance to CHEP Standard Operating Procedures. This will be achieved through ongoing involvement in maintaining mechanical equipment in a safe and useable condition so as to ensure that workplace activities at the workplace are safe. Responsible for contractor management and ensure procedures are adhered too
  • Directly responsible for the day to day mechanical serviceability of the mechanized production line and associated plant to ensue downtime is kept to a minimum and machine safety is given the highest priority. Rectify mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic breakdowns on a timely basis. Carry out and install modifications to improve machinery efficiency and reliability. Maintain accurate historical records for areas of maintenance using both electronic and manual reporting systems
  • Identify and implement best practice throughout the business to maintain ongoing continuous improvement in quality, productivity, safety and cost efficiency
  • Maintain maintenance costs to the budgeted level by thorough planning of labor, cost effective parts procurement and stock levels and a minimal amount of unscheduled stoppages. Ensure preventative maintenance program is reviewed regularly thus minimizing downtime
