We are hiring a Senior Manager, Maintenance for our Peterborough, Ontario plant, a key site for juice and dairy manufacturing. In this role, you will lead a maintenance and reliability strategy, ensure compliance across critical systems, and drive improvements that reduce downtime and elevate performance. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and a passion for building team competence and efficiency in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Position-Related Duties and Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of a multi-year maintenance and reliability strategy for the site, including alignment on capital project priorities.
  • Drive preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize uptime of process, packaging, utilities, and building systems.
  • Build technical capability across maintenance teams through structured coaching, mentoring, and skills development programs.
  • Partner with production, quality, safety, and warehouse teams to deliver operational improvements that meet site performance and compliance targets.
  • Ensure regulatory and internal compliance with systems including ammonia refrigeration, wastewater treatment, utilities, TSSA, CFIA, and KORE standards.
  • Oversee the planning and allocation of resources for maintenance activities, spare parts management, and contractor coordination to ensure efficiency and continuity of operations.
  • Utilize analytical tools to track the Department’s KPIs, identify failure modes, and implement corrective actions to minimize unplanned downtime.
  • Serve as the site Subject Matter Expert for maintenance processes, engineering change control, and technical upgrades, ensuring smooth integration of new systems or technologies.
  • Support the execution of capital projects by collaborating with corporate engineering and on-site project teams.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement by initiating focused improvement projects for safety, quality, and operational reliability.
  • Act as a key partner in internal and external audits, driving ownership of findings and corrective actions to ensure sustained compliance.
  • Communicate progress against maintenance KPIs, cost metrics, and reliability performance to stakeholders, delivering insights that inform operational decisions.
  • Ensure safe work practices across all maintenance operations while fostering sustainable maintenance approaches aligned with corporate sustainability goals.
  • Provide leadership and direction for on-site troubleshooting during complex technical issues across systems such as process automation, utilities, and building infrastructure.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or a similar Engineering discipline, or equivalent work experience required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in similar industrial maintenance positions, including leadership roles with strategic responsibility.
  • Advanced knowledge of refrigeration systems (including ammonia), wastewater treatment, and critical utilities operations.
  • Expertise in maintenance and engineering compliance standards for food manufacturing, including ISO, GMP, HACCP, and CFIA guidelines.
  • Proven experience managing site preventive and predictive maintenance programs leveraging modern CMMS platforms such as SAP.
  • Solid technical background in troubleshooting processing and packaging machinery/equipment, utilities, and automation systems (PLC, SCADA, HMI).
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks for safety, environmental, and electrical compliance in Canada; knowledge of CSA and TSSA codes and standards is highly desirable.
  • Ability to interpret and modify technical drawings, P&ID diagrams, and engineering schematics for troubleshooting and process improvement.
  • Strong analytical and data literacy skills to leverage equipment performance data and reliability metrics for decision-making.
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional collaboration and managing external contractors in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and team leadership skills with the ability to build engagement and capability within a diverse workforce.

Skills:

Pay Range:

Canada: 134,800 - 151,900 CAD

Base pay offered may vary depending on geography, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position, is offered.

Annual Incentive Reference Value Percentage:

Annual Incentive reference value is a market-based competitive value for your role. It falls in the middle of the range for your role, indicating performance at target.
