Examples of duties
This position supports the upkeep, repair, and improvement of facilities and grounds at Fort Indiantown Gap. The role ensures that buildings, equipment, and systems function efficiently each day. As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will perform the following duties:
- Carpentry Work: Install ceilings, sheet rock, flooring, and structural features, and complete repairs to walls, windows, roofs, and insulation
- Plumbing Tasks: Install and repair toilets, faucets, showers, sinks, pipes, valves, seals, and other plumbing fixtures
- Painting Preparation: Prepare interior and exterior surfaces, mix paint, and apply coatings to walls, floors, ceilings, trim, doors, and signs
- HVAC Duties: Change filters in units, complete minor service tasks, and support the proper function of heating and cooling systems
- Electrical Installation: Replace switches, receptacles, ballasts, and light bulbs, and run wire or conduit when needed
- Grounds Maintenance: Cut grass, remove snow, trim shrubs, plant flowers, and keep walkways and outside areas free of debris
- Safety Practices: Follow all DMVA safety rules, report incidents, and correct hazards to maintain a safe work environment

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
Special Requirement:
- You must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
Additional Requirements:
- You must maintain favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Any formal training (high school vocational program, apprenticeship, or post-high school technical training program) in a skilled building, electrical, or mechanical trade
- Experience in commercial maintenance of buildings and equipment
- Experience in commercial carpentry
- Experience in the plumbing trade
- Experience working in the electrical trade field
- Experience in the maintenance and repair of refrigeration or HVAC systems
- Experience with 3-phase wiring, including emergency generators, automatic transfer switches, switchgear, and 3-phase panels
- Experience with domestic hot water mixing valves, recirculating loops, aqua stats, and instantaneous water heaters
- Experience with the provisions of Life Safety Codes and Uniform Construction Code (UCC), as they relate to repair of buildings
- Structural experience in the maintenance or repair of buildings
