Examples of duties

This role focuses on semi-skilled maintenance and repair tasks that support safe, functional, and well-maintained facilities throughout the Laurel Hill State Park Complex. As a Maintenance Repairman 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Plumbing Repairs: Open blocked drains and repair leaky faucets while cutting and threading pipe
  • Electrical Tasks: Replace bulbs, shades, and switches and assist higher level staff with major electrical repair
  • Carpentry Work: Build doors, install flooring, repair screens, replace windows, and fix locks and door checks
  • Roofing Duties: Replace shingles and metal roofing on assigned structures
  • Equipment Care: Make minor adjustments to equipment and lubricate machinery as needed

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026 until November 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment approximately March 2027.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch. Days and shifts, including weekends and holidays, will vary due to the seasonal nature of the position.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience in general maintenance work which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.


Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
