The Maintenance Repairer 2 will perform skilled work involving the assembly, repair, and maintenance of agency buildings, facilities, and equipment. This position assists with preventative maintenance activities and ensures compliance with agency policies, procedures, regulations, and safety standards while performing assigned duties.

The Office of Management and Finance (OMF) oversees the agency’s fiscal operations, budgeting, procurement and contracts, human resources, and other key administrative functions. We provide the internal support and oversight needed to ensure efficient, accountable, and transparent agency operations. OMF does not deliver direct services to the public.

Examples of duties

Two years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR

Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering; OR

Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses.

Supplemental information

  • Performs assigned tasks in the preventative maintenance program in the Baton Rouge area and area offices located statewide.
  • Servicing, repairing and replacing mechanical equipment such as pumps, chiller, A/C system, air handling units, hot water heaters, steam coils, traps and all other HVAC systems and equipment.
  • Performs electrical installation and repairs within the agency buildings (receptacles, breaker panels, lights, ballasts, coax and IBM cables, MCC cables, and other electrical items.
  • Performs plumbing duties. Installs, alters, maintains, and repairs water lines, fixtures, commodes, sinks, urinals, valves, make-up tanks, chill water lines, etc.
    Performs task related to door hardware, door locks and cubical locks. Maintains the key stock and lock stock.
  • Performs painting tasks such as preparing surfaces to be painted and painting those surfaces, such as brick walls. Sheet-rock walls, equipment, etc.
  • Works with Telephone, Electronic Tech as needed.
  • Maintains supplies, tools, and equipment in agency stock.
