Summary:
This position is responsible for performing routine maintenance and janitorial tasks to ensure that the school facility remains clean, safe, and in good working order. Must be proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to providing a safe and clean environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Uphold mission, vision, values and policies and procedures of RiseUp.
General Maintenance:
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on school facilities, including minor repairs to walls, flooring, and basic electrical, etc.
- Inspect, document and maintain school equipment, furniture, and fixtures.
- Conduct regular checks on school building systems and report any issues or areas requiring repair.
- Assist in setting up and breaking down furniture and equipment for events or classroom setups.
- Maintain grounds, including outdoor walkways, and parking areas, ensuring they are clean and free of hazards.
Janitorial Duties:
- Clean and sanitize classrooms, hallways, restrooms, offices, and common areas.
- Empty trash bins and dispose of waste in accordance with school policies.
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors; clean windows, walls, and other surfaces as needed.
- Restock supplies in restrooms and other areas (e.g., paper towels, soap, toilet paper).
- Schedule quarterly carpet cleaning.
- Pick up trash in the parking lots.
- Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces, including doorknobs, light switches, and railings.
Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure all areas of the school are compliant with health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
- Report safety hazards and maintenance issues promptly.
- Assist in emergency situations, including snow removal, flooding, or other incidents that impact the school building.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with the Building Superintendent and other staff to ensure maintenance tasks are completed in a timely manner.
- Assist with special projects and events, as needed.
- Uphold principles of the trauma informed principles of RiseUp.
- Participate in training and events that specifically address the intersection of trauma with culture, history, race, gender, location, and language.
- Recognize the impact of vicarious trauma on the workforce and continually assess in supervision signs and symptoms of vicarious trauma as well as self-care plans.
- Other duties as assigned.

QualificationsRequired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Minimum age of 21
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Experience in light building and grounds operations.
- Ability to read chemical labels.
- Satisfactory Central Registry and FBI record check.
- Skilled in the use of hand and power tools.
- Ability to read material safety information.
- Ability to initiate and complete work orders.
- Have a valid Colorado driver's license, and five years driving experience and meet Roundup qualifications for driving agency vehicles.
- Ability to work as a member of a team.
- Ability to communicate effectively with respect and tact in order to give, receive and analyze information, formulate plans and prepare materials. Ability to read, write, and speak the English language for required paperwork, testing, and professional communication.
- Ability to do simple math calculations and analyze data.
- Must be able to resolve problems.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
- Requires sufficient range of physical strength and range of motion.
- Requires prolonged sitting or standing.
- Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
- Requires stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning, and reaching.
- Requires climbing and balancing.
- Must work indoors and outdoors year-round.
- Must work in noisy and crowded environments.
- Must work in and around dust, fumes, and odors.
- Must be able to drive a mechanical vehicle.
- Requires adequate range of hearing and vision.
