Essential Requirements

- Recognised Mechanical or Plant Fitting Trade Certification (or equivalent)
- Minimum 3 – 5 years of experience in plant or heavy equipment maintenance

- Strong diagnostic and mechanical repair skills
Are you a qualified Maintenance Plant Fitter with hands-on mechanical experience and strong problem-solving skills? This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy team supporting the building and construction industry through expert equipment maintenance and repair.
As a Maintenance Plant Fitter, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of construction plant machinery. Your role will be key to ensuring operations run safely, efficiently, and without disruption. This is a full-time position for individuals who are mechanically minded, calm under pressure, and ready for a challenge.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out preventative maintenance, repair work, overhauls, and equipment installations
- Diagnose and repair faults in mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical systems
- Use diagnostic tools and procedures effectively to ensure accurate fault identification
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections
- Identify faulty tools or equipment and ensure adequate spares are available
- Perform diagnostics and repairs on diesel and petrol-powered equipment, with a focus on diesel
- Carry out basic welding and fabrication when needed
- Respond to breakdowns efficiently to minimise downtime
- Work flexibly as a ‘jack of all trades’ to support various mechanical and electrical tasks
- Engage with customers and colleagues calmly and professionally
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workspace
- in depth Knowledge of maintenance on Diggers and Dump trucks
- Knowledge of Volvo HGV systems is a plus
Qualifications & Skills
- Recognised Mechanical or Plant Fitting Trade Certification (or equivalent)
- Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in plant or heavy equipment maintenance
- Valid driver’s licence
- Experience with diesel and petrol engines (diesel preferred)
- Basic welding skills
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic abilities
- Familiarity with health and safety standards on construction sites
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- Calm, methodical, and solution-focused approach
- Knowledge of Volvo HGV equipment an advantage
- Safe Pass and Manual Handling certificates (can be completed in Ireland if not already held)
