Maintenance Planner

Position Title: Maintenance Planner
Department: Maintenance / Operations
Reports To: Maintenance Manager
Location: Duncanville TX
Employment Type: Full-Time

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for developing, scheduling, and coordinating preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities to ensure optimal equipment reliability and minimal downtime. This role serves as a key link between operations, maintenance technicians, engineering, and procurement to ensure maintenance work is well-planned, materials are available, and work is executed safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Planning & Scheduling

  • Create detailed job plans, including labor requirements, materials, tools, permits, and step-by-step work instructions.
  • Develop and manage preventive and predictive maintenance schedules.
  • Prioritize maintenance activities based on operational needs, safety requirements, and asset criticality.
  • Maintain and optimize the maintenance backlog.

Work Order Management

  • Review incoming work requests and convert them into actionable work orders.
  • Ensure work orders contain complete scopes, technical specifications, and required documentation.
  • Track work order progress and closeout, ensuring accurate reporting in the CMMS/EAM system.
  • Analyze completed work orders for improvements in job planning and execution.

Materials & Procurement

  • Identify and request spare parts, tools, and contract services needed for work execution.
  • Coordinate with procurement and warehouse teams to ensure timely material availability.
  • Help maintain accurate spare-parts inventory and update bill of materials (BOMs).

Equipment Reliability & Continuous Improvement

  • Support reliability initiatives by analyzing equipment history, failures, and maintenance trends.
  • Recommend improvements to maintenance strategies, PM tasks, and job plans.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and reliability teams to optimize asset performance.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all maintenance plans incorporate proper safety procedures, permits, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support compliance programs, including audits, inspections, and documentation control.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma required, technical diploma or degree in engineering, maintenance, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in maintenance planning, industrial maintenance, or a related role.
  • Experience with CMMS/EAM systems (e.g., SAP, Maximo, Infor, eMaint, Fiix).
  • Manufacturing, industrial, or facilities experience preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and facility systems.
  • Excellent planning, scheduling, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, manuals, and schematics.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills across multiple teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.

This role will also share responsibilities to assist the EHS manager.
