Overview

The Maintenance Planner is fundamental to the asset management structure. The role will be responsible for the planning and scheduling of all maintenance work performed in all areas. Maintain liaison and coordination between the production and maintenance teams and maintain appropriate records to enable meaningful analysis and reporting of results or work done. The responsibilities further include forming part of the EHS and Food Safety team on site, ensuring all legal compliance actions is executed within a reasonable agreed timeframe and being a GEHMS Standard owner. Manage and maintain spare part inventory, ensuring highest quality standards is maintained. The secondary component of this role involves serving as a Production Planner, responsible for production scheduling and planning based on operational requirements, representing approximately 20% of the overall role responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage the preventive maintenance programme for the unit
• Optimise the technical resource utilization
• Prepare the weekly budget spread sheet / track spend daily
• Develops and update maintenance program
• Create, verify & update maintenance and inspection schedules
• Plans major breakdown repairs
• Release planned work orders from SAP
• Review the work list and prioritise the adhocs
• Create Maintenance Day Plan and assign tasks to team members and contractors
• Run the pre-maintenance day meeting, communicate the plan to team members and distribute the maintenance works orders and control sheets to team leaders
• Review spares required and equipment availability and reserve where required
• Plan the availability of necessary resources (lines “specialist” tools, equipment suppliers or outsourced services) to ensure that the work gets done on time
• Build and maintain good relationships with all parties (including service providers, part suppliers, OEM’s and contractors as well as internal departments)
• Conduct spares criticality assessment process to identify and action changes to the spare’s requirements.
• Communicate progress against plan and reprioritised work to line of authority hourly
• Assess and manage the corrective work arising on maintenance days in conjunction with the Artisans
• Conduct planned job observations on schedule duration
• Monitors and responds to Asset Care Indicators
• Provide feedback on running schedules, back log status and feedback received on execution of autonomous maintenance schedules
• Validate the integrity of the job card data and ensure repairs done captured on SAP
• Plan machine audits to restore equipment to standard or specification requirements.
• Plans condition monitoring activities
• Plan all annual shutdown tasks
• Manage and control spare part and consumable inventory, ensuring quality standards are met and maintained
• Manage all financial controls (purchase requisitions; purchase orders & GRV’s) off all maintenance parts needed for stores or maintenance activities in compliance with PepsiCo Global Procurement Policy.
• Perform monthly stock counts as per PepsiCo policy, investigate variances and capture the counts and differences.
• Documenting and planning of maintenance activities.
• Upkeep of maintenance processing on SAP.
• Integrating maintenance activities with production plans.
• Planning of personnel and materials for upcoming tasks, ensuring that these resources are organized and prepared.
• Responsible for pre- and post-maintenance meetings, for planning and allocation of maintenance period activities with relevant stakeholders.
• Leading of morning technical meetings.
• Precise assessment of maintenance tasks regarding duration, priority, skill requirements, spare parts, special tools and equipment, specialist services, and the identification of necessary materials.
• Sourcing and ordering of spares in line with monthly budgets.
• Requesting of new vendor applications for better prices on spare parts.
• Estimation and arranging of contract labour to supplement existing resources to meet maintenance requirements and deadlines.
• Issuing of permit to work for contractors and ensuring they adhere to site safety rules.
• Assist the maintenance manager in budget forecasting.
• Assist and support the maintenance manager, store controller and artisans where needed.
• Attend HOD meetings and providing feedback on maintenance related activities.
• Ensure accurate scheduling and on-time product delivery in full (OTIF).

Qualifications

Education: Relevant Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in mechanical, industrial, or electrical engineering

Experience: Minimum 5 years in a manufacturing industry preferably in FMCG manufacturing environment, out of which at least 3 years working in maintenance planning. Working knowledge and proficiency in SAP:PM & MM
