Are you passionate about improving reliability, efficiency, and operational performance? As a Maintenance Planner, you will play a critical role in ensuring maintenance activities are planned, prioritized, and executed effectively to support safe, reliable, and efficient production operations.

You will work closely with maintenance, operations, engineering, and external service providers to optimize preventive maintenance programs, improve asset performance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining technical expertise, planning skills, and data-driven decision making to make a measurable impact on facility performance.

The role & your impact

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for leading maintenance planning activities, managing CMMS processes, improving preventive maintenance programs, and supporting spare parts management. This position serves as a key link between maintenance and operations by ensuring work is properly scoped, planned, prioritized, and documented.

Key responsibilities in this role

  • Plan maintenance work including job scoping, cost estimation, labor planning, material identification, ordering, kitting, and scheduling.
  • Manage planning functions within Maximo, including approvals, preventive maintenance activities, BOMs, and cost-effective execution.
  • Maintain and enhance asset information, preventive maintenance job plans, spare parts data, and maintenance safety plans within the CMMS.
  • Lead spare parts inventory and storeroom management initiatives to improve inventory accuracy and availability.
  • Develop, track, and report maintenance KPIs to drive reliability and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with operations and engineering teams to improve preventive maintenance effectiveness and equipment reliability.
  • Manage contractors performing planned maintenance activities and contracted preventive maintenance work.
  • Lead post-job reviews, improve work request quality, and develop efficient job staging processes.
  • Support maintenance history documentation and provide hands-on technical support when required.
  • Promote compliance with food safety, quality, and GMP requirements across all maintenance activities.

What you'll need to be successful in this role

  • Associate degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • Significant experience in industrial electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience working with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), preferably Maximo.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance planning, preventive maintenance methodologies, and asset management principles.
  • Knowledge of food manufacturing operations and maintenance practices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex equipment issues and collaborate effectively with operators, engineers, and equipment vendors.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including experience creating reports, procedures, and business correspondence.
  • Proficiency with Windows-based business systems and applications.

Additional skills & interests we value

  • Experience in probiotic, pharmaceutical, food, beverage, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Experience developing KPIs and maintenance performance dashboards.
  • Knowledge of reliability-centered maintenance practices.
  • Previous experience leading maintenance process improvement initiatives.
  • Exposure to inventory optimization and spare parts management programs.
  • Experience managing external contractors and service providers.

Working conditions

  • Manufacturing facility environment supporting probiotic production operations.
  • Regular interaction with production equipment and maintenance work areas.
  • Ability to lift and transport materials and equipment weighing up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to walk significant distances throughout the facility during the workday.
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, stooping, squatting, standing, and climbing stairs.
  • Occasional work on ladders, scaffolding, or elevated platforms.
  • Availability for emergency call-outs and overtime as business needs require.
  • Combination of office-based planning activities and time spent in operational areas supporting maintenance execution.

Compensation & benefits

Expected salary range: $71,631-$98,493
