The refinery will produce both light and heavy separated rare earth oxides, supporting diversified global supply chains for minerals essential to defence, renewable energy, electric vehicles, robotics and advanced technologies.

About the role

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Planner will develop high-quality mechanical maintenance plans, safe and executable work packages, and realistic resource-loaded schedules for the Eneabba Rare Earths Refinery.

The permanent core focus of the role is mechanical and electrical fixed plant maintenance planning and scheduling, covering routine, preventive, condition-based, corrective, breakdown and shutdown work.

During the first 6 to 12 months of operational readiness, the role will also support materials cataloguing and the preparation and verification of equipment, spare parts, equipment bills of materials, and maintenance and materials master data. Following this period, the primary focus will remain mechanical maintenance planning and scheduling.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed maintenance plans and work packages for routine, preventative, corrective and shutdown maintenance activities
  • Conduct field inspections and work order walkdowns to define scope, identify constraints and ensure work is ready for execution
  • Prepare and maintain resource-loaded weekly, four-week look-ahead, shutdown and longer-term maintenance schedules aligned with labour capacity, plant availability and operational requirements
  • Maintain accurate maintenance work orders, task lists, maintenance plans, equipment information and work history within SAP Plant Maintenance
  • Develop safe and executable mechanical work packages
  • Manage maintenance backlog, work readiness and schedule compliance to support safe and reliable plant performance
  • During operational readiness (6 to 12 months), support the verification of equipment, spare parts, equipment bills of materials and associated maintenance and materials master data
  • Contribute to shutdown planning and execution by developing detailed scopes, schedules and resource requirements

About you

  • Mechanical or Electrical trade qualification, Mechanical Engineering qualification, or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated experience planning mechanical fixed plant work, including rotating and static equipment, routine, preventive, corrective, breakdown and shutdown maintenance
  • Experience supporting materials cataloguing, spare parts management and maintenance master data activities within a maintenance environment is desirable
  • Strong understanding of equipment bills of materials (BOMs), asset hierarchies and maintenance master data structures
  • Experience using SAP Plant Maintenance or a comparable maintenance management system
  • Demonstrated experience developing detailed work packages and realistic, resource-loaded maintenance schedules
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project or similar scheduling tools.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple disciplines
  • Electrical, Instrumentation and Control planning experience will be highly regarded
