The Maintenance Planner is responsible for creating work orders, schedules, and preventive maintenance plans using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to maintain equipment at peak operating efficiency.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform the following:

  • Creating preventative maintenance task, work orders, schedules, and maintenance plans detailing frequency, labor estimates, parts, and costs.
  • Having expert knowledge of each type of equipment in the plant
  • Collaborating with operations to maximize equipment availability and minimize downtime while keeping all equipment maintenance up to date.
  • Partnering with Maintenance Supervisors to schedule work and maximize labor utilization
  • Coordinating planned downtimes and working with maintenance staff, contractors, and vendors
  • Collaborating with other Planner(s) and Maintenance Supervisors across all shifts to develop work plans, ensure their timely execution, and proper documentation. Assisting Part Room Attendant to stock all critical spare parts and ordering parts required to complete all maintenance procedures.
  • Developing procedures using OEM Manuals, P&IDs, drawings, schematics, and industry standards.
  • Maintaining records and files for maintenance management using a CMMS.
  • Creating new procedures using reliability, predictive, and preventative strategies.
  • Establishing goals and KPIs for the maintenance workforce
  • Generate reports using various maintenance, labor, and cost statistics.
  • Applicability of regulations to facility equipment and processes. Including workplace safety, food safety, corporate standards, and environmental compliance.
  • Working with maintenance department team to develop and complete training for Maintenance Technicians.
  • Contributing to new equipment installations and continuous improvement while partnering with Engineering team.
  • Electrical maintenance compliant with NFPA 70B

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required Education

  • High School Diploma

Required Experience:

  • 2+ years planner experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with a CMMS

Preferred

  • Associates degree in applicable field or maintenance planner certification.
  • Food industry experience.
  • Process Safety Management (PSM) compliance covered processes (ammonia refrigeration).
  • Water and Wastewater experience

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

  • Proven thorough understanding of automated equipment and machinery (process & packaging), HVAC, lighting, ammonia refrigeration, utility systems (i.e., boilers, hot water, glycol, etc.), ovens, material handling equipment, grounds keeping, security and overall facility appearance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must work effectively with all levels of management and team members.
  • Must demonstrate effective leadership, problem solving, presentation, and team member motivational skills.
  • Proficient in Internet navigation, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and a computerized maintenance management system.

Additional Information

The starting rate for this role is $25.46 - $40.85(Hourly). Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, and candidate skill set and experience. Base pay is just one component of Jack Link’s Total Rewards package for Team Members. Other rewards may include annual incentive and program-specific awards. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Team Member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

While performing the duties of this job the Team Member will be required to wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (i.e. beard/hairnet, ear plugs, frock, boots, etc.), stand for extended periods of time, and use hands/arms to push, pull, reach and occasionally lift above head. The Team Member must occasionally lift, push, pull up to 25 pounds and 50 pounds infrequently. Team Members are requested to visually inspect equipment and/or product.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a Team Member encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work environment is a plant setting with wet/slippery floors, varying degrees of temperatures with an average temperature of 40 degrees in the production area. Team Members will be exposed to raw and/or cooked meat products and moving equipment and will be required to follow all Food Safety Quality requirements.
