The Maintenance Planner role is critical to the safe, efficient and effective execution of maintenance activities at the Kirby South and North Facilities by providing consistent high detail planning/estimating, ensuring that all ordered material is correct and meets Canadian Natural specifications, and ensuring that applicable procedures, job plans and documents are compiled and available to execution crews.

Responsibilities of this role include planning and cost estimating all corrective maintenance activities, verifying and ordering all materials (long and short lead), creating execution job packages (safety & specialty requirements, job plan/procedure, drawings, specs, ITP’s, etc.).

  • Job location: Kirby North, Alberta
  • Shift schedule: 8 x 6, 12-hour shifts (Tuesday – Tuesday)
  • Safety sensitive position: Yes

Key Accountabilities:

  • Conduct site visits to scope work and initiate communication with stakeholders to understand the level of planning detail, materials, tools and documentation required for each individual job
  • Create detailed job plans and job packs for safe and effective execution of maintenance activities
  • Identify material and services required to perform work and initiate the purchasing process by creating PR’s and PO’s on CMMS
    • Ensure accuracy and adherence to Canadian Natural Specs
  • Monitor/manage new work requests and changes in backlog priorities and maintain records and documentation in a shared directory
  • Provide turnover notes and reports across shifts to ensure work is completed accurately and on schedule
  • Attend and participate in weekly scheduling & work management meetings
  • Continuous improvement of existing CMMS information and job plans/packs

What You Bring to the Role:

  • Typically, 5 plus years of related industry experience with a Journeyman Red Seal trades certification or related technologist certificate
  • Familiarity with and understanding of
    • CMMS planning methodology
    • Working with piping, mechanical, electrical & instrumentation equipment
    • Working with ABSA, API, AER, ASME
    • QA/QC requirements
    • Work management process
    • Maintaining a positive safety track record
    • Reliability & Proactive Maintenance concepts
    • Working with Microsoft Office suite
