About Island Gold District:Alamos Gold’s Island Gold District will become one of the largest and lowest-cost gold mines in Canada. With the two mines within the district, Island Gold and Magino employ over 900 team members who work in the underground and open pit operations and are located in northern Ontario, just east of the town of Dubreuilville, 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa. PURPOSE:

The Maintenance Planner role focuses on maximizing workforce productivity, safety, and efficiency through proactive planning and coordination of all maintenance activities.

SAFETY AND SUSTAINABILITY EXPECTATIONS:

Planning and Scheduling

  • Develop validated weekly maintenance schedules for mobile and fixed equipment using industry best practices.
  • Prepare complete work orders with labor, parts, materials, and tools identified before execution.
  • Create job plans that extend equipment life and reduce costs through precision maintenance.

Safety Leadership

  • Incorporate clear safety protocols, including Lock-out/Tag-out (LOTO), in all job plans.
  • Report hazards promptly to prevent incidents.
  • Attend daily line-up and monthly safety meetings to align with departmental goals.

Productivity and Sustainability

  • Minimize delays and non-productive time by streamlining workflows.
  • Apply sustainable practices to reduce waste and optimize energy use.

KEY RESPONSBILITIES

  • Work Order Management: Screen, scope, and determine planning requirements for incoming work orders.
  • Job Scoping: Perform field walk-downs to identify hazards, estimate labor, and define resource needs.
  • Planning & Scheduling: Develop detailed plans and participate in outage planning.
  • Resource Management: Ensure timely availability of parts, tools, and equipment.
  • CMMS (SAP): Maintain maintenance plans, BOMs, and task lists.
  • Reliability: Support improvement projects and compile CMMS reports for continuous improvement.
  • Coordination: Communicate job expectations to internal teams and contractors; collaborate with reliability and procurement.
  • Fleet Maintenance: Oversee comprehensive maintenance of underground mobile equipment.

COMMUNICATION

Planner’s Role:

  • Provide contractors with complete, constraint-free packages, including scope, safety protocols, permits, and technical documentation.
  • Confirm that permits, tools, and materials are ready.
  • Share technical documentation and historical data from CMMS.

Supervisor’s Role:

  • Execution oversight remains with supervisors; planners do not manage personnel or field activities.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Six Sigma Green Belt is an asset.
  • 5+ years in skilled trades; supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong mechanical/electrical aptitude.
  • Technical: Proficient in CMMS/EAM, SAP, Primavera, MS Project, Visio, and Microsoft 365.
  • Functional: Budgeting, communication, technical research, and documentation.

This is a site based role at Alamos Gold, Island Gold District. The job is offered on a 4 day on 3 day off rotation.
